So I was on my way home from work today when I saw a friend of mine walking down the side of the road. He was with his ol' lady, or I assumed it was his ol' lady anyway. I pulled over to chat with him a bit and catch up cause I haven't seen him in a while. He soon asked me for a ride into town. It was on my way so I said hop on in. I cleared the bench seat of my truck off from the jacket, lunch box, and what ever else to make room for them both to climb in. The girl got in first then Moe, my buddy, sat by the door.
I noticed him hand the girl a bag carefully to hold as he climbed in then he got it back from her after he shut the door. We chatted a bit on our way down the road when I casually asked what he had in the bag. I didn't really care what he had, I was just making conversation for the ride.
He replied to me, "It's none of your damn business!" Taken a back from the seriousness in his response I said I was just asking, he cut me off and said again, "Don't worry about it, it is none of your damn business!"
At this point I felt a flash of anger cross me. I was offering this guy I knew a ride out of the kindness of my heart with no hard feelings and there was no need to get rude with me over something so petty. I then decided to pull the truck over to the side of the road and told him if he wanted to go any further with me then now I needed to know what was in that damn bag.
He said once again, "I said it's none of your damn business what I got in this bag buddy and you need to start minding your own before this gets ugly."
I had it at this point while the whole time the girl between us is looking from me to him to the bag but stopping on the bag with some concern about her. I had my pistol down beside me when I reached for it and told my buddy Moe that it had already gotten ugly.
The both of them flipped at my response and jumbled about the cab in a hurry to get the hell out of the truck and darted off toward the woods leaving the bag lying on the floorboard.
I told this story to a close friend of mine and at the end of it all he could say was, "Well, what was in the bag?"
I said, "It's none of your damn business."
