Thanks, tlo, for expanding the discussion. However, I'm still not understanding. The mags I had feed problems with in my Glock had shorter springs than the new springs that replaced them or the springs in other mags that fed properly. It didn't matter what ammo I placed in them, they both failed to feed after 3 or 4 rounds. The mags were my care mags that had been loaded for several years. Maybe there was something less than optimum about the metalergy of those older springs.

I also didn't understand what a crease was and how they can form in a magazine.

Happens to me all the time usually while eating submarine samiches. I manually cycled the gun and can't see a thing to go wrong...limp wrist I betcha. Here's a great video of limp wrist in action. HERE

I'm confused........I took it your trouble came about as a result of changing the connector bar !!!

Excellent explanation, tlo7mm, and absolutely true. Thanks for the video, Suz. I'll bet that Glock feed ramp needs some polishing after that.

Well Chambered........I'm wondering if it has any effect. So far I've not uncovered any evidence that the trigger bar is the culprit. I've done a search on the internet to see if anybody has raised the issue and they have. The people at Glock will tell you that you have the wrong trigger bar (if it's not theirs), but the trigger bar does not effect the feed anyway. I think it's more of a failure to feed than a failure to fire. I've only had a couple rounds that failed to fire but many more didn't feed. After viewing the video I found I realized that my problem could more likely be the limp wrist thingy. I haven't shot the gun much anyway and it does tend to kick quite surprisingly. I don't really intend to shoot it much, but I'm thinkin I might go for something with less recoil than the 40 S&W.

Suz, I started with a .40 S&W fist then went to the 9mm because they are easier and less expensive to shoot. The trigger bar shouldn't affect feeding but it can affect failure to fire. You can tell when a Glock is empty when its trigger is all they way aft. When you cock the slide, the firing pin only gets partially set to strike. The first part of the trigger travel finishes drawing back the firing pin all the way so its ready, the second part of the trigger pull releases the firing pin. You can fell this transition point if you look for it. Some Glock shooters don't release their finger all the way for follow-up shots and hold it just forward of this transition point. Anyway, your new trigger bar may be transitioning before the firing pin is all the way aft.

Ok then.........Now I understand what it is you were asking !!!

The connector can cause failures to fire but it wouldn't cause a failure to feed issue.

The quickest way to determine if it is you or the gun is to allow an accomplished pistol shooter shoot it with the ammo your using. Hopefully that's a possibility for you.

I've gone ahead and changed the trigger pull back to the original and I'm going to try it out again, making sure to keep a really good hold on it. If it doesn't do the trick I'm set on trading it in on something else. This is the first semi-auto pistol I've had that I can really shoot good and straight with and I don't want to give it up but I think it's too much of a heavy recoil for me. I guess I could try a 9mm Glock, wonder how much I can get on a trade.

Very good video Suz...an excellent demonstration of "limp wristing".

Chambered's suggestion of getting someone else to fire a mag full is a good idea, and one I used to confirm the viability of a load if I was having troubles with it from my revolver. Nothing like a bit of experience to show any problems that are there.

Don't give up on the '40' Suz...practice, practice, practice...don't let it beat you mate.

Cheers, Vince

Suz, steady and firm back pressure from the off-hand while you push the gripping hand forward should cure an limp wrist issues. Remember to lean forward into the pistol. If you are interested in some technique videos, here are some.

I bet you are using 180gr bullets. Try some 125, 135, or 165 grain.

Unlikely that you will get anything back in trade. 9mm Glocks are really not less expensive than the 40's.

If you decide on trading your Glock take a serious look at the Springfield XD and the S&W M&P guns............you'll be amazed at side by side comparisons as to recoil and control.

A word of advise, I wouldn't give up just yet !!!
Applying a proper technique goes a long way in controlling a otherwise heavy recoiling gun. Just because one may be of small stature or lacking in physical strength does not mean they aren't capable of mastering what may seam to be impossible.
It is possible that your perception of the guns attitude and how your reacting to it is actually counter productive to proper shooting form. A lot of people will grab a gun as hard as they can in an attempt to manhandle it. Although a firm grip is necessary it is equally important to apply consistency through out the process.
With beginners I try to get them to let the gun react the way it wants to and go along for the ride. As you log more trigger time you'll start applying a more natural control instead of fighting it.

Suz, don't feel offended, but use your middle finger...
to hold the gun. Smile

I started my life with a S&W Mod. 29 with 8 3/8" barrel and in the beginning my knuckles coloured blue, untill I just held the gun with 1 tight finger, the middle finger. It gave we a steady grip and the last part of my finger didn't changed to blue anymore.
I could add some more comments now, but I better just think them Smile
