rblain, congrats! I know you are excited. I love my Tikka and I'm sure you will yours. However, get yourself a LimbSaver recoil pad! I can't remember which one I got but it fits great. You can downloaded a .pdf file from their website and scaled it on my computer screen so the length measured correctly. Just paged through until I saw one with a good fit for outline and screw holes. Picked it up at Cabela's in stock. I did use some gasket material to take up a little bit of space between the internal stock webbing and the pad. The stock butt plate is just a rubber cover.

Hey Slim

That was one thing that I picked up before I even left the store. They took care of everything for me. They mounted and bore sighted the scope and put the limbsaver pad on too.
I'm good to go. I'll be at the range in the next week practicing.

Lets start with the range report. I pumped a number of rounds thru the barrel today and it took a bit a little bit but we finally got it dialed in. Im lookin forward to my next trip. A little more fine tuning and I'll be looking further down the range. I'm not sure what the problem was today. Even after Bore sighting it was shooting really high. We finally got it figured out and I ran out of ammo. Might have been a good thing though because I'd probably still be at the range and there never would have been enough ice in the freezer for my shoulder.
The 300 win mag packs a kick but i'm glad I went with it.
Vince, I'll pull the camera out and snap a couple. I'll get them up in the next day or 2.

I shot a .300 win in my youth it was a mod70 featherweight and it really shot 200g.'s the best with h1000 driving it. results were always spectacular but I've since gone back to a .270 or 30-06 depending on the terrain. I also have a .320 howell I drag out on occasion

I always compensate on the elevation when using a bore-sighter...........they're always high !!!

rblain, a good looking Tikka! Did the stock scope rings not get the scope high enough to clear the objective?

You can add .jpgs directly into the post when you use "post reply" and then use "Browse..." and then "add attachment" at the bottom.

I find images 600 to 800 pixels wide fit best.

rblain, why did you decide not to use the stock scope rings?

Hey slim,

When you refer to the stock scope rings, what do you mean? Thats what they sold me when I asked for mounts and rings for the scope. (Leupold) I dont know any better, I'm kind of knew at this.

Rick

All Tikka T3s come standard with 1" scope rings designed by Tikka for the unique upper receiver grooves. Whoever sold you the rifle cut you short. The stock rings have fewer parts to shake loose, especially with a 300 WM.
