Watch how cool this deer hunter stays when a bear climbs up his stand!

WOW....that was awesome. 'Cause we don't have predators like bears over here, its great to see that sort of thing.
I take it that was a black bear? Are they particularly dangerous; we always seem to see pics of them up close and personal with humans in funny or interesting scenes.
Whichever way...he was a pretty cool hunter, and the bear didn't seem overly perturbed by it all either.
Love it...thanks Slim.
Cheers, Vince

Yep, black bear. Not as dangerous as a grizzly but need to be respected just the same.

Yup Vince, that was a black bear. They are usually very shy towards us humans and only once I had to shoot a bear for being overly aggressive. We were up visiting relatives in northern Wisconsin when a bear stumbled into the back yard and tore up all the bird feeders just to get at the bird deed. I didn't know it at the time but apparently bird seed is high on their list for food. When we attempted to shoo him away he grew agitated. We went in side the house and called the dnr and they said they would have someone come out and tranquilize him shortly. Well the 3 dogs that started fighting with the bear only made matters worst and with one dog killed. I told my cousin that we will have to kill the bear before he does any more damage. By the time the dnr got there 1 hour later and seen the damage and 2 dead dogs, he said we were in the right to protect ourselves and property. He even let us keep the bear and we butchered it and it was not bad.

Vince...Grizz are predictable. They will tear your head off. Black bears are unpredictable. They may leave you alone or they may tear your head off.
I discovered that I was eating huckle berries with a black bear one time. The next time I had to put one away for attacking the camp.

I just sorta take it for granted that anything that big with teeth like that might be dangerous.

That was great Slimjim. That guy didn't sound the least bit nervous. I would have spent some time shoveling off the seat of my tree stand after the bear left.!

It's like the bear understood what the guy was saying! One hunter to another!

Cool Vid!!!
I really like Black Bears. I've hunted them for years, but have gotten just as much enjoyment watching them. They all seem to have interesting personalities and so often do the cutest things.
I was hunting one spring for black bears and I spotted a bruiser. I made my way up the back side of the hill and crawled up over the top to get a shot. I couldn't at first figure out what the bear was doing, but it didn't take me long. He was standing in a patch of brush and tag alders that were about 6-8 inches taller than his legs. He was stepping forward and back and had a look of "OMG that feels Good!!" on his face. He was scratching his belly.... ..... I didn't have the heart to shoot him, I just laughed quietly to myself, got up and left him alone. One of my favorite hunting memories....

Thanks for posting this great video. I have had a number of similar situations here on my property. The bear population here has more than tripled in Massachusetts over the last several years, and they are getting very accustomed to people. Hunting regs here are for spot-and-stalk only with no spring season. I have trailcam photos of seven bears on my property, and have had a number of them within 25 feet of me. The only scary one is the second-largest of the resident males. He often bluff-charges.
Calling predators (coyote and fox) with a dying rabbit call can get very very exciting around here.
