50 Caliber Muzzle Loaders, if flint lock do not require registration. However all other muzzle loaders require registration.
50BMG centerfire rifles ALL require registration like every other firearm. The Baretts are Prohibited by name so don't think about it. Otherwise they are all non-restricted.
Currently the issues with owning 50BMG's are not from the Canadian Government and laws but the US export ban of all things related to the 50BMG done by the State Department. This includes dies and rifle actions that were manufactured for the 416 Barrett because they are simply a wildcat of the 50BMG.
If you really want the 50BMG and are willing to spend the money look here:
albertatacticalrifle.com/
Everything from accurate single shot 50BMG's to Swiss made Nemesis bolt action magazine fed rifles. Rick's guns are top notch though.
As well the Steyr 50 BMG's are available as well from a variety of sources.

The site I linked is a gunsmith/gunbuilder who makes his own single shots and imports 50BMG's from countries that are more friendly to private sales.
In the US only California may have a 50BMG ban, but the US State Department that issues the export paperwork wont allow export to any private individual, only allowing government agencies and the military to get the paperwork.

Buy a used one if there are any in Canada, or break US export regulations and risk 25 years in a federal jail.
