|
Microsoft has done it to me again!!! Actually a couple of times since I ranted about them before.
About a month or so ago an automatic update was installed that left me unable to access the internet. I was quickly able to figure it out and uninstall the update and hide it as to not reinstall.
Today IE8 was automatically installed and guess what??? No internet again!!!
I spent about an hour trying to get it to work and finally gave up on it.
I then uninstalled it and reverted back to the previous version.
I then got on net and searched info regarding IE8.
Once again Microsoft has outdone themselves with compatibility issues!!!
So this has gotten me thinking about Firefox for my browser.
Does anyone have any info/warnings/advise/comments they would like to share to help me make a decision on this?

I have foxfire and I like it better than Microsoft. It is run by a bunch of computer nerds that know all the tricks. They keep up with all the hackers and keep it a lot safer than Microsoft.

Firefox is great. I've been using it since it was simply called "Mozilla".

All my years (since about the time windows 95 came out) of computing I have used Microsoft very little cause I never did like it. I used Netscape before Mozilla and then Firefox. As far as I'm concerned the only one to use is Firefox. It has always worked great for me. Recently a few people at work switched to Firefox, after they asked me what I used, cause they were having trouble with microsoft and they now love Firefox.

Mate.....Mozilla Firefox is the bees knees...the ducks guts....in other words, it is excellent.
Have a read up on Firefox and you will see that it is far more user friendly and versatile that IE could ever hope to be.
Do it mate.... www.getfirefox.net/

I used netscape from way back in 1988, Mozilla in 1994 and I use their next product called SeaMonkey now.
Never like IE, only use them when I have no choice.

Another fan of Firefox here:
Easier to use & plenty of add-ons to choose from for customisation.

As soon as I find some extra time I’m going to download it (firefox) and start using it.

Well it only took me 10 mins. To get it up and running !!! That includes the time it took me to figure out and create a restore point just in case !!!

Told you Chambered. Its a 10 minute job. The installation is so simple you don't need to know anything about computers now do you?

It’s a little different but I think it will be an easy adjustment!!!
I’m still trying to figure out things like the phishing filter, pop-up blocker and how to add a short cut to my desk top.

To add a short cut .... go to your start menu, open it up to where you start FireFox but instead of clicking with the left mouse click with the right Then click "Send to" in the menu that pops up, then click "Desktop (As Shortcut)".
As for the Phishing Filter, it blocks out sites with invalid security certificates and sites that are borrowing off a site with a different address. The same type of sites you hear about people logging into with their PayPal, VISA or bank information and end up getting scammed.
The pop up blocker blocks everything by default you got to give it exceptions for sites you want/need the pop ups.
