And I probably bring home less money then you and most anyone on this board unless they are unemployed or retired.

Thanks Eric...For once you are on my side...Lighten up you guys...Even as "rich" as I am, I shop at Wally-World. They do have brand name auto parts such as Fram and Valvoline...
Last time I checked. Wally-World would try to find US made products at reasonable prices and when they can't. They get whatever they can at a reasonable price. It's up to you to determine the quality of the product you wish to buy and how much you are willing to pay...

D,
Proud for you, as you have learned a valuable lesson of life, early. That lesson is to never buy cheap because cheap is not cheap. Always buy the best quality you can for the money you have to spend, without squandering your hard earned money.
Best,
Ed

I come from a family where the thinking is cheaper is better cause something is better then nothing (as a whole we are not well to do but we are not dirt poor either somewhere in between).
My high school shop teacher set me straight and got us to realize saving money for months if need be and buying once is better then buying for half price and buying 4 times in the lifetime of the "better" product.
I guess it may be cause I work in the manufacturing sector I like keeping my money in the hands of others who work for similar wages and have jobs similar to mine where we depend on the ability to sell goods at a cost we can live on. Others may not feel the same way.

Hey D.
You wish that you had never started this thread.?
Merry Christmas!!!
For my present, I'm heading over the my Gun Shop.
A couple of weeks ago, they came up with a framed, matted, signed and numbered Les Kouba print "Bills attack at 7:00AM."
Les is my favorite artist, and the print was done at Delta Marsh.
Brings back a lot of good memories of the hey days of Delta that I enjoyed.
They got it at an auction, and are holding it for me--$100.00.
Eric

Just bought a wireless phone set at COSTCO, without checking the label. Upon checking found out it was made in China. Guess I'll have to do better about label checking.

D,
I’m like you; I selectively buy everything, choosing US, Canadian, Australian, English, etc., made items first. I leave my purchases from enemy countries as a last resort, and sometimes do without.
I’m especially picky about food items because there are still lots of countries in the world that use chemicals (such as ogano-phosphates and chlordane), which is known cancer causing agents. In countries such as Mexico, it is not against the law to irrigate food crops with water contaminated with human sewage. Labels that say packaged or packed in the United States do not mean that the food was raised in the United States. Food packing equipment is expensive to purchase for a single farmers growing season, so they will ship in produce from Mexico and pack it in the US, to justify purchasing the equipment. E coli, fecal coli form…..yum!
In our local grocery, a 5 pound bag of potatoes from Mexico is 99 cents. Idaho potatoes are almost $3.00. I’ll buy Idaho every time.

A17Shooter,
All consumer electronics are made in China today, lack of environmental laws is what has done this. However, a great deal of the circuitry inside of the products are made in Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and the like. Its more of the overall assembly and the boards themselves that are currently made in China. If you rip one apart you'll see what I mean with many of the sub-components being marked with different countries who can still produce good products. However the cheaper you go cost wise, the more likely it will be stuffed with bad Chinese reversed engineered components instead.

Cary,
You are absolutely right, and I do look for produce saying "Product of" not "Packaged in".
You know I forgot to post, but it took till December 27th and looking at multiple stores to find a non-Chinese spatula, but I did, found one made of Olive Wood from Italy so picked that one up for a measly 2$ more then the 7$ Chinese ones.
