It's what I expected D.
We are a very conservative state--Guns, God, and Hunting, but also a Union State--"Put the X behind the donkey's ass"
Right now, I'm more concerned about the Senate race with Norm Coleman, and the House race with Michael Bachman.
The key now is that the liberals don't get 60 Senate seats, and a filibuster proof Senate.
No party should have that much control, not even the Republicans.
On FOX News, the polls from voters showed that around 44% said that they were moderates, 35% Conservatives, and 21% liberal.
Obama will have to watch his step, because the American public is still very Conservative.
This vote is a protest vote of just how badly Bush has governed the past four years.
I have been involved in Politics, and have helped with many political campaigns for many years, and I could see this coming for some time now.
The folks in the USA don't buy the leftist garbage that folks like our own Claymore try to push.
That kind of stuff is what Marxist Professors try to teach about Capitalism, but doesn't wash with the American Public.
We all see what that kind of Government did to the Soviet Union, and today in North Korea and other Countries.
Even China is going away from this type of governing, and moving towards Capitalism.
Economic ideas like our fellow forum member have, are destined for the same fate as the dinosaurs, but they just don't know it yet.

The only difference between the big two parties is that we pay more with the democrats than we do with the republicans.
Taxing the big corporations (democrats)
---the taxes are added to the cost of the goods produced and the profit is added to the new cost - the corporations make more profit with higher taxes and WE, the consumers end up paying the tax and the added profit. The economy suffers and inflation grows fast.
Taxing people (republicans)
---WE pay the taxes and the economy grows with inflation at a lower rate.
As long as we vote for either of the two big parties they will continue to make decisions for us that we should be making for ourselves. The invasive government has been growing since the start of the two party system. Lets bring in the third party - the Libertarians. Lets get back to the constitution and away from big government.

VERY good point Paul.
Where I live now, I tend vote Republican.
Up North, I voted pretty much Democrat.
My ideal Politician is Jim Oberstar. Jim is a Democrat who is pro-gun, pro-life, but also pro-labor.
Unfortunately, he is a small minority.
What this Country needs, and I'm sure that you agree, is a strong and viable third party candidate, who can actually win the Presidency.
I voted for Ross in '92, and he was able to shake things up a little, but we need someone who can break away from the two controlling parties, and actually win.
This would shake up the Republicans and the Democrats to the core for generations to come.
Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a chance in hell of this happening.

I must have heard a hundred people say that same thing to me....
It isn't going to happen until we vote for the third party candidate.
In my opinion the less government we have the better and that points in only one direction - Libertarian.

Can't help but notice that the 0.6% of people who voted Libertarian in NC would have given the state to McCain instead of Obama.

Missouri went Sen. McCain, but if the rest had voted for someone that might win we wouldn't be paying homage to obama...But NOOOO!!! We had to stick our heads in the sand and pridefully vote for losers. So now all of you that voted for other then Sen. McCain can just EAT your pride...
And I realize that Sen. McCain wasn't the best of choices, but the rest of the losers didn't have a chance and I would have prefered Sen. McCain then obama.

I know the feeling, many voted for out of the way parties as it "suited" them more here too, costing the Conservatives here a few seats, and almost losing many more seats.

To all that didn't vote you have no right to gripe. Arkansas went for McCain too so did I. I agree with Bushmaster !

I have big issues with McCain. I don't like the idea of having the government in all the areas of my life that they are in. In the USA you can disappear for "not cooperating" with a law enforcement officer - part of our war against terror.
Both of the big parties are taking our rights away - That is a big issue!
It is time we get back to the United States and leave the "Amerika" out of it.
Ok, I tend to be an anti-federalist, a constitutionalist, a fiscal conservative and a moral liberal. Nobody - especially not the government can take away my rights - or yours. (but they are doing it and we are letting them because we want to vote for a "winner"?
I will continue to vote Libertarian untill the rest of the United States wakes up.

It won't...So you will let it go socialist...I guess that's why I served this country for 42 years...So we could disagree and vote any way we want to...
Paul...I agree with you, but until the liberitarians or one of the others on the right can come up with a person that can win. I will have no choice but to vote for the one least likely to screw thing up too bad that we can't fix it later...Right now all they seem to come up with is "nobody idiots" with their own agenda...Or some one like Ron (you gotta be kiddin') Paul...

There were only two guys who had any chance of being elected. If you didn't vote for one of them you might as well have voted for Mickey Mouse. I agree with a lot of what the Libertarians say but they simply were not going to win in this election. With something like 1% of the vote they could only affect things as a spoiler, as they did in NC.
