|
I for one am out of the gait rather slowly. Although I am seeing game for the most part, the only critter that I've seen and is legal at this time is several Black Bears. I have yet to see a Mule or Whitetail buck, lotsa does so far.
I've seen several bull Moose, but not in the area that is open. Saying that, I am scouting the area I have a November Bull draw and there is no open season for them there. Not a waste of time by any means finding out where they are before the draw.
I included a couple pics from the season so far.
How's everyone else making out?

Great pictures, thanks for sharing those with us!
I won't start hunting whitetail until mid Nov. Archery season is in now but I don't bow hunt (At least yet). I wish you luck and look forward to more pictures!

No big game hunting seasons are open down here yet. The only season that is open is for doves. So far, not many are migrating through my area. I have heard reports that there are some fly-ways establishing about 40 miles to the west. I heard very few shots from the neighbors this weekend. If a norther gets some of the northern birds to migrating south, I may do some evening hunting around the house. But, so far, all is quiet.

My big game season starts in four days with a private land antelope buck. I have everything ready and looking forward to Saturday morning on the farm.

I guess I have to count my blessings here. Between archery and rifle season I can basically hunt from August 15th, Black Bears and Grouse open, till December 10th the final bow opening for Mule deer. There is always something open in between and provided I don't tag out, it's a nice long season to enjoy the sticks.
Now, hoping for a little cooler weather..+25 Celsius isn't good for hunting up here...As I drove into a hunting area I really like on Monday, the road had been graded a few days earlier. There was Moose, Deer and bear track every where, didn't see ANYTHING....damn warm weather, their moving at night, but at least I know where they are.
Glad you enjoy the pics BTW...
Good luck to everyone..stay safe and have fun.

I fly out in another ten days & I'm getting "antsy" waiting.
Blanked the last two years, so this time I'm determined to fill my elk tag.
If I do, then the meat goes to my good friends in NM but I want the hide tanned & made into a couple of rifle cases.

I pity you poor buggers! I can hunt all year round, ok it's New Zealand and things are a bit different here. Went bush last weekend. Between 4 of us we got 7 pigs and 3 deer without using dogs.....thats fairly normal this time of year, keeps the freezer full. Within 3 hours of home I can hunt free range, Sika, Rusa, Fallow and Sambur Deer, (Reds Pigs and Goats easily within an hour or less, deer have been shot within 10 min of town) . I don't have a limit but only shoot what I'm going to use. I have to have a permit from Dept Conservation to hunt public areas and there is some controls on dog access due to Kiwi (Flightless native bird) ...theres no dangerous critter except the big old boars so life here is peachy.......oh just to make you really jelous I'm 400 meters from the beach so as a kayak fisherman the fishing is primo as well.
Remember NZ isn't that far away with the $ doing what it is.
