This past Friday, my brother and I went hunting. We get out as often as we can, but its not often enough. The last time we went was about 6 months ago. On this hunt we were after Spanish Goat to make some sausage for the freezer. The area that we hunt is divided into 4 smaller areas. We started walking at sunrise and we saw hundreds of goats. The problem was that they were all in another area! We continued walking all the way to the end of our hunting area. This took 2- 1/2 hours of steady walking on the trail. Upon ariving at the boundry of our area ( a deep gulch) we spooked a large Billy who ran out about 75 yards from us and stopped to see what was going on. My brother shot him and we de-boned it and started our journey back to the car. As we began to head back the fog rolled in and there was a steady drizzle. About halfway out of the trail we bumped into another small herd of goats (about 8 animals) We shot 3 more Billys and the one that I shot was a decent sized trophy. Its horns spread 25". We de-boned the Goats and we continued our day long journey back to our car. The amount of meat we got should give us about 75 links of sausage. This was a long overdue trip and a very rewarding one at that. I hope to do it again soon. I tried to attach the picture but it was too large. I added it to the gallery under Big Game Misc.

That is great Frontier....a great hunt.

Spending good quality time with a close family member makes a hunt just that much more special.

Now all I gotta do is have look on the net and see what a Spanish Goat looks like. Laughing Laughing I've heard of Speed Goats...they don't look anything like a goat, so Im expectin' the Spanish Goat to look like anything but a goat. Laughing Laughing

Edit: OK..a nice looking goat. Looks like they are good meat "carriers". MMMMM...Roast Corned Leg of Goat...haven't had it for years.

Cheers, Vince
