I'm interested in the new .327 Mag. Anyone had any significant experiences with it yet? I'm an old guy who's a fan of the 32-20 (I hunt rabbit with an original 1892 Winchester), but I have to admit, it's a real pain to reload. From what I've seen in the magazines, it looks like it pretty much duplicates the 32-20 but with a straight-walled and thicker case. Heard anything about it coming out in a lever-actioned rifle?

Gidday Wilhelm...welcome to HuntingNut mate. Grab the obligatory beer, pull up a stump and sit awhile.

Not familiar with this calibre....in fact I've never even heard of it...be interesting to read about it.

Now...how old mate? We are all members of society's "Old Young", or is that "Young Old"...can't remember. Oh well, doesn't really matter...we are all young at heart.

Cheers, Vince

The .327 Magnum interests me too but the only gun I've seen so far chambered for it is the Ruger SP-101. I have an SP-101 in .32 H&R Mag (4" barrel) and really like it.

Not to disparage anyone's own preference in firearms but... I've heard (not from an official source) that the 327 Mag. was born because the 32 H&R Mag. didn't sell that well. The manufacturers had a pile of barrels they had no market for so, viola, the 327 Magnum.

Get one if you want but ammunition will probably always be in short supply and more expensive than more common types. If you want to hunt small game, there are other choices with even less recoil and less expense. If you wish to use it for big game hunting, you probably can't since the usual minimum caliber is .357. For self defense, it would work just fine but isn't quite as good as a 357 Magnum. If you wish to reload for it, you might also first check on brass availability.

All that said, I also fall for oddball stuff on occasion. My weakness is T/C Encores and Contenders. Several months ago, I acquired an Encore barrel in 308 Marlin Express at a very attractive price. Per the latest e-mail from Hornady, brass for reloading might be available next year. Well, at least I have something unique, since the cartridge had little reason for being created and hardly anyone will be foolish enough buy a gun chambered for it.

Welcome to the HuntingNut Wilhelm. I don't no much about that calibre. I have read a couple articles on it though and looks to be a decent round.
