I've always had a suspicion that the folks in NY City and CA are using lead pipes in their plumbing...

we dont even have to go back to the roman times, we can go back to early 19th century in our own countries here to find things were leeching lead into our food, from the cooking and serving utenciles to the water sources..

also lets look at it this way, the bird i used in the preivious post of mine who ate the lead didnt die immediatly, it was still alive with blood coursing throughout its body thus poisoning its system.. whereas when you give the animal a lead injection, 90% of the time the shot is a instant heart stopper, ie no more blood pushing the lead through the system...

As in most other things the gummint gets involved in, the problem(s) are usually overstated, reminding me of my Italian aunt, who lived in a world of whatever was worst, it was bound to happen, and soon!

My dad was a painter, and I played with his white and red lead as a kid. Everybody I knew bit their split shot to crimp it on the fishing line. That continued for years before I got into handloading and bullet casting.

Of course, even wth a reasonably high I.Q., I do have a slight learning disability that keeps me from really understanding numbers and computers, but you compensate.

In a good year, I successfully administered ~ $1 million in public funds. Just think what I might have accomplished, If I had all my faculties, and had not been damaged by that NASTY lead!

Using a built in spell checker is always good, unless you forget to realize you got red lines under your words that are improperly spelled.

You know, come to think of it, the number of times I went fishing and didn't wash my hands anymore then rubbing them together for a couple of seconds in the lake or river and shaking off the extra water before grabbing a bite to eat is more often then the times I've went fishing. Lets see, fish blood, chemicals in the water, viruses and bacteria to make me sick in the water, all that lead and chemicals from the tackle used. Go figure the way the "experts" seem to think I should have went to the hospital for digesting this stuff a long time ago.

Yes, I use OpenOffice and it has spell checker as well. But there are web browsers you can ether add spell check or its built in. I was not always the best in spelling, could never remember how to spell a word, even if the teacher got me to write it out 50 times the day before and I must admit before about 3-4 years ago my spelling was bad enough that ever couple of words needed to be fixed with the spell checker, now one word in every couple of sentences is wrong.

If you have kids, tell them don't be like that Dimitri guy on Hunting Nut, learn to spell before it bites you in the butt and you fail English.

Good to see this thread changed tack into something close to my heart - I can't spell but look at the way kids nowadays spell. A spell checker would have a hernia with all the single letter words and phonetic spelling they use. I can hardly understand my daughter when she sends text messages - it's quicker to ring her and ask what she was talking about. Hold, maybe thats her ploy, make dad pay for the phone call!!!
