Sorry D.
Thought you're standards had slipped a tad.
I wouldn't doubt to see her as McCain's V.P. choice though.

Eric,
First you accuse me of liking Rice, now you accuse me of having standards. All sorts of accusations coming from you now.

Hey Dimitri, this is WAY off the subject but Ben just came home from a duck calling contest in Mankato, Minnesota.
He took two firsts worth $550.00.
I guess that he beat a couple of State Champions.
In these contests, the LESS that you sound like a duck, the better chance to win.
I won't even let him touch a duck call in the blind anymore, because he chases all of the ducks out of the county.

I believe Bush has been right on this one and we should maintain our position and refuse to be a part of it! |
Thanks for your response and the link to the presidential profiles. Your intial post indicated that on his website McCain's top priority would be global warming, however, the link you provided (which isn't McCain's) has McCain stating national security to be the top priority. He believes, I surmise, that environment is a very serious issue and his full explanation of his position is one with which many of us who love the outdoors may relate either in full or in part.
The same referenced link reinterates his stand on Kyoto that until China and India share the same responsibility to adhere to lower emissions that the US would be at economic disadvantage. This is probably why he was principal among those that blocked Senate approval of Kyoto by disallowing a vote on it. IOW, good in principal, bad in practice.
Please forgive what may appear as nitpicking, however, I feel it is important in gaining clarity on McCain's positions, some of which have changed over the years. But, to the issue of 2nd Ammendment he is one of the stalwart supporters and receives high marks from the NRA. Beyond which, McCain embodies the best hope for the continuation of constitutional values of those now seeking the office.
McCain has done some dastardly things, such as, McCain Feingold. His cozzyness with Ted Kennedy doesn't inspire confidence in his discretion of choosing associates. He has positioned himself over the years in such a way as to become more central in his appearance and to distance himself from some of the Bush image. But, I trust him. I believe him honorable and honest and I look forward to this country being lead by him.

I hate to sound like I'm not concerned about McCain's policy views, but the only view that I'm concerned about, is the view of Hillary, or the Irishman on the White House horizon.
I'm voting McCain.

Actually we need to get others out to vote also, which means working for whatever candidate we want to see elected! We can at least encourage fellow conservatives to get out and vote. We might even take them to the polls!! |
+1 on this post vint2! Our local Republican headquarters is always in need of volunteers and sometimes the work is menial but still helps the process. Things like phone banks, mailers and simply running errands can free up the time of organizers in their quest for more donations and overseeing the strategy of the election. Every hour and every effort on the part of individuals can add up to huge dividends come election day.
Getting directly involved is rewarding as one feels far more a part of the process. I have met McCain on several occassions when volunteering and that type of face to face contact shores my confidence that he is the only viable candidate to take this country forward. His selection of VP will be critical and, probably, controversial.

Saturday, I went down and voted early in the Texas primary. One thing for sure, I’ll back McCain against the Democrat, whoever that may be. That said; I voted for Huckabee. Not because I like Huckabee that much, but because I’m hoping that the whole fiasco ends up a vote of “no confidence” where McCain doesn’t not get his required number of delegates and someone else steps up and takes the reins. The chance is slim to none that this will happen; we’ll find out on March 4. If McCain wins I’ll be first in line to vote against the b-t-h or the Irish lad in the general elections.
Remember, the Democrats have registered the dead and have forged voter registration cards for their dogs and will vote in illegal (as in alien) hordes.
Remember, we’re fighting “taxation without representation.”

I have been reading rumblins of "no confidence" and it is bipartisan! We will see what happens. Ralph Nader just upset the cart for dems by declaring his cadidacy!!!!!!
