I got my first rifle for Christmas in 1978, which was a Remington model 788 in 308Win. Short rifle, only a 18.5 inch barrell. I still own it and take it out occassionally if hunting in the thick woods!

I got a Remington modle 700 BDL in 1984 for an 8th grade graduation gift. It's still one of my go to guns. Now since I live in "The Peoples Republik of Kalifornication" I have to start all over reloading as we can't have lead bullets in "Buzzard Country" (California Condor Range). Gotta love those LIBERALS!!!!!

Mine was the Winchester Model 150 (lower end unit) I bought with paper route money. I wore out the firing pin and ejector.
First CF rifle was actually a custom job that was given to me because I was owed money and the donator could not pay. It was a '98 Mauser action, Mc Gowen barreled, .284 Winchester with a Redfield scope. Sweet rifle but it was stolen from me by a house setter.

It was a single shot 22 don't remember the make. First shotgun was a H@R Topper model 20ga. It's sad I don't have either one I traded them in my youth for other firearms. Live and learn I guess. Hey Doublejs
I have a 788 in 308 with the 18.5" carbine barrel it's my go to rifle I love it

A No. 1 Mark III British Enfield from WWI that cost $15.88 in 1958. I still have the rifle. All the best...

shrpshtr Joe,
I love mine too. My dad asked the neighbors (him & his wife were both winners in many shooting sports) what to buy me for my first rifle. They made an EXCELLENT suggestion! I love the 788 carbine also!

My first rifle was my dads SAFN49, that I claimed many years ago and its now my own.
The rifle is almost 60 years old now.

My first was a JC Higgins single shot that set my dad back $20 on the catalog mail order.
My first centerfire was a Ruger Mini-14. Worst money I ever spent.
