It is time to change from REDNECK humor to TRUE AMERICAN Humor!

Only it isn't seen as HUMOR, but the correct way to LIVE YOUR LIFE! If you feel the same, pass this on to your True American friends. Y'all know who they are...

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation, under God."

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival."

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You bow your head when someone prays.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You treat Viet Nam vets with great respect, and always have.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You've never burned an American flag.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.

You might be a TRUE AMERICAN if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

If you got this email from me, it is because I believe that you, like me, have just enough TRUE AMERICAN in you to have the same beliefs as those talked about in this email.

God Bless the USA !

Cheers, Vince

only ever burned a flag once and that was giving it the true respect it deserved after faithfull service in front of the house.. and before anyone freaks out, you are supposed to burn them when they are too tattered to be of service

Morax,
I knew that you could burn them respectfully when they were old, and am I correct in thinking that they can also be buried also?

From the Flag Code:

(k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

i know they are not to touch the ground, but i donno about burring them..

ed>> i like the full writing of the instance, burned in a dignified fire, not too slow but a vigorous one, and the ashes then stirred so as to remain in the semblance of a flag... basically destroy it beyond any recognition!!

Other then placing your hand on your heart I do all of thouse. I generally stand more stright up, with my hands behind my back at my waist when I sing/lisen to the national anthem. Smile

Yep, you are right Swampy....we aussies are a proud nation as well. The only thing that is not done by most is the hand over the heart bit.....that is an American custom, although going back to when all aussie men wore a hat, when they doffed their hat in respect they would place it over the heart.

This man will stand next to any of you. I will also let any other American whether he believes the way I do or not. If he takes pride in being American then my America is big enough and strong enough to have him there next to me. If America ever gets so small that it doesn't have room for the diversity that made us the greatest nation on this planet then I will have to move - THAT is not the America I believe in. We are strong together because we have the diversity and the laws that allow that diversity.
I love this country and I see some things happening that should be stopped. I hope you see them too. I God we trust! Nomatter what you call Him.

My family and I were standing next to a couple of fellows last year, at the Forest Lake 4th of July Parade.
The first time the colors went by, my kids, wife, and myself stood up to attention with hats off. We had been sitting on the curb.
These two guys just sat there.
A little bit later, the Military Guard with Colors came buy.
I told these two idiots to stand up at attention, and to take their hats off, and put them over there hearts.
I meant business when I said that to them, and they knew it.
They did what I told them to do, and were good little Patriots for the rest of the Parade.
My wife wasn't too pleased with me, but my kids were proud.
Tough. Mad

I truly believe that there is room for all even the idots. (We need someone to teach Smile ) I may not always put my hand over my heart when the flag goes by I at least stand for it and give it the respect it deserves. I will fight for anyones rights to say what they want, I believe it's called a little thing like the 1st Amendment, even if I don't agree with them. I know that most people don't think like me or even like me but I'll give them there right to speek even if they don't give it to me. Flag Rant

You have the right way of thinking rdncktink. That is why my wife was PO'D at me.
I just think that the other side has enough jerks that burn the flag, that I must counter balance, and be a jerk on the Stand up and Salute side.
All of my instructors in my Firearms Training Classes kind of roll their eyes and laugh at me because before every class begins, I tell the kids and their parents to "Stand at attention, put your hands over your hearts, face the Flag, and Say the Pledge of Allegiance"
I tend to say it like they don't have a choice if they want me to like them and do they want to hunt the coming hunting season.
I know that they have a Constitutional Right NOT to say the Pledge, but I have a God Given Right to flunk their hind ends if they don't. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad I can always find some reason to flunk the little liberal. Very Happy

Again, your are correct on this rdncktink, I just choose to be a jerk on this subject. At least I admit it. Laughing Laughing

Not saying your a jerk it's more like the idiots who don't stand are the jerks. Oh and the people who don't let us be jerks are the idiots too.
