I'll start by saying that I now think that a .300 RUM my be a good all around gun. We all know it will smoke the big stuff, but .........
While elk huntting last week, my partner and I were suffering. New turf, second week of the season, warm weather. You get it. We wernt seeing any elk. So when we crossed paths with a Ruff grouse, I told my mag totting budy to take it, at 60 yards. He broke it's neck with a 180 gr. swift. Leaving both breasts untouched! See it's not to much gun on them. Sniper

Southpaw,

Now that its not too much gun for small grouse you think you will need to upgrade to a 600NE or maybe a 50 BMG to have enough gun for a Elk ?? Very Happy

Seriously though eventhough you only got a grouse its still a meal for you and your partner so you didnt come home empty handed! Smile

Goodjob on your hunt!

Dimitri

No we shot four grouse. For the other three we took the time to get out the .22. It still was not a waist though, we saw new bush and found some good spots. Next time we can spend more time in high % spots insead of looking for them.
