The girl next door messaged me tonight…there was a snake creeping around her chicken enclosure. She asked me if I felt like relocating it, so I said sure, why not.

I wandered in and sure enough, there was a beautiful Carpet Python, about 5’ - 5 1/2’ long just sitting there looking at the chickens. I picked it up by the tail and carried it away from the chicken enclosure. It didn’t get stroppy, it remained quite placid actually. The lady got a pillow slip for me and I guided it in to settle down, then took it into the park next door and released it into a stand of big rocks. It slid out of the pillow slip, looked at me, then slowly turned away and moved into a gap between the rocks. Not the first one I’ve relocated and I doubt it will be the last.

I’m always very careful around snakes, with the only ones I will handle, if it’s safe, being the Carpet Pythons. Eastern Browns get an extremely wide berth from me (they are the deadliest snake in the world) and the Green Tree Snake and Brown Tree Snake are too damn fast to even get near…one look and they are off like a blue ars3d fly…they are incredibly quick to run and hide.

Haha Haha Haha

Tricia is the same, she has much respect for snakes. If Deb was to see one of these up close, I think she would agree that they are in fact a beautiful snake…very pretty.

Haha Haha Fair call mate. Not everyone has good feelings towards snakes, as do I…heaps of respect though…the buggers will bite, and that’s not nice, even from a non-venomous snake like this one. Mad Mad

This fellow is a python mate…non-venomous and if handled gently is generally quite placid and won’t bite. I don’t mind them in my yard, but the girl next door has a small dog and chickens…both would be on the menu for a python this size…so I relocated it for her.

Since it's not poisonous, does this mean it's edible? Confused

No hedgehogs over here mate…only Echidnas and they are not an issue. They just bimble around looking for ants to scoff.

Can’t say I’ve ever tried it mate…but then again they are a protected species. I’d have to say yes, they would be OK on the tooth. The aboriginals up North are happy to chow down on Olive Pythons and Goannas.

Snakes are the worst thing ever to try and eat. Its all bones from one end to the other. Very little meat.

True mate, but when you manage to get the meat out, it’s quite delicious.
