My yard is infested with Japanese beetle grubs (apparently) so I have at least one skunk who visits almost nightly to dig them up. I'm concerned that my almost blind/almost deaf dog will run into it one night. The dog wants to go out around 2-3AM every night, and again about 6AM, so I've started going out with her. I turn the flood lights one and wait a couple minutes. Then I go out with a flashlight to keep an eye on her. One night we startled a large gray/silver fox, at least as big as my Brussels (20-25 lbs) so now I carry a pistol too.

I only have to worry about coyotes. The red fox and her lot knows better than to tangle with Samantha.
