The mentality of the Australian political party THE GREENS…

Ill comply only when golfers or greens have to licence and register every club and keep them individually secured in a safe.
Each ball is to be indivually assigned at cost to only 1 golfer, limit of 2 balls only, each ball to be serial numbered.
Buying of second hand balls illegal with a minium 5 years gaol per offense.
Licence only available after a compulsory written exam, minimum 5000 words to be completed only after a 18month initial training course.
Different clubs to have different levels of licence.
A special act, written and controlled only by god (also know as a miracle) is required to own or operate any level of "wood".
Polishing of your balls before play without a sanctified ball polishing supervisor is a minimum fine of $20,000 and total forfiture of any and all property relating to golf.
Any Greens politician found to be living a modern life, using modern methods, transport, heating or washing to be pillioried at the end of the street for the amusement of any kiddy fiddlers we havent shot or beaten to death with golf clubs.

Pete, you mention a penalty of 20 000 $...
here in Belgium we risk a penalty upto 25 000 € when breaking the laws on weapons... uptill now I never heard about such a fine being executed.

Down there under might be the land of a lot but here we even had guns officially registrated under the name of Mickey Mouse. When one makes ridiculous laws, one can expect ridiculous reactions...

but in practise we gun-owners are living like saints and are treated as criminals!

That is the real issue.
The law abiding firearm owner isnt the problem, as everyone else apart from the greens and the UN realise.
However the greens aim is utopia of a world free of firearms where everyone will sit around the camp fire singing kumbyar, crime will not exist and the fairies at the bottom of the garden will deficate gold all over you to pay for it all.
