I read a very good article, this morning, in the Ottawa Sun regarding a Canadian in NZ and covid.
Very much worth the read IMO.

Uhhh... its an interesting "opinion", but its completely biased. This quote in particular stood out:
Quote:: |
What we learned in New Zealand is that while it might feel like freedoms are being taken away during a lockdown, |
No... it did not "feel" like freedoms were being taken away, they WERE taken away, period by decision of the government. That then begs the question of how your government defines a citizens "Freedoms".
Also, when keeping infections from outside sources... it helps when your country is an island. Here in the states there are masses of people entering the country illegally (5000ish per day), and who knows how many are covid positive.

100% correct Dallan. We've damaged society and economy for a bug with far less than the reported 2% "death rate". Note that there were/are millions of cases that were not reported because they didn't require any medical attention. Also, at least in the US, about 95% of "COVID related deaths" had several comorbidities. The average age of "COVID related death", again at least in the US, was 78 years old. The average age at death in the US, from all causes, is 78 years old.
COVID-19 is real. COVID-19 CAN be serious to some people. But the political response to it is disproportionate.

That is an excellent point. Sums up my feelings as well. Too much of this has been politicized.
Saw a video this morning of a person wearing a mask... in a swimming pool. We've reached levels of ridiculousness I could have never imagined.

Another travesty committed by the governments of the world is the dismissal of two effective therapeutics that are inexpensive and approved for use by the FDA, in favor of a new experimental "vaccine" that the pharmaceutical industries can make billions from.

oh what a crock of poohs that article is.......
it wasnt a "one off" lock down....Auckland has had a couple more since the big one...and the GOVT isnt smart at all...they TOLD Aucklanders lockdown will start at midnight and LET THOUSANDS bugger off to thier holiday batches out of the area...yet we werent allowed to go hunting solo in back country.... or go into another region.
the Labour Govt has ministers who broke the rules during big lockdown...and kept the job.....
Cinders herself HASNT had jab yet...she keeps avoiding it yet has allowed it to be big issue and YES some folks are facing possible job loss if they dont roll up sleave....
YES we are very lucky we are an island and CAN shut down the borders..but man they were slow to do so...

as for Cinders...big guesture of donating 8000 doses of jab to poor countries...WHERE THE ACTUAL FCUK does she get off?????
thats MY hard earned tax $$$$ she just spent without consulting me.....and we havent given all our citizens the chance to take jab if they want it yet
all the hugs n sad faces Cinders pulled after mosque shootings....were all part of big plan....rushed gun legislation has seen sweeping changes..the shootings were excuse to push them through...right or wrong.
the "Christchurch call" was supposed to have all big internet providers shut down hate speech or objectional posting ASAP .....Cinders got world wide approval for fronting it...and it failed miserably without a whimper to be heard..... virtue signaling, with no real substance to actions.

it could have been worse... can you imagine that same person with a mask but not wearing a swimming suit?
I got a nice remark from a local medical docter: someone wearing a mask while alone in a car is like putting a rubber on when you're going to sleep, all alone in your bed...
