I almost passed on this one, my wife was with me and she wasn't sure she could make the shot. He started getting spooky so I finally decided to take him.

Looks like you have some good venison there.
Those antlers are great looking stuff for gun and knife scales or a solid handle or a few.

lovely even head...that extra bit jutting out at base is a talking point. enjoy your venison and ignore the heathen above...knife handles...shucks.... a nice euro mount would be much better.

This deer is going on the wall. He is currently with the taxidermist. The reason I almost passed on him, I knew he wasn't very wide. The reason I took him, I could tell he had good mass. As for the abnormal "point" above his right eye, I originally thought it was dried velvet still attached to his antler.
I'm happy with him, especially since I don't consider myself a "trophy" hunter, but more of a fill-the-freezer guy.

That's a fine trophy.
Me to a T matey - don't have the teeth to chew on antlers any more but I'm happy with venison & the head is a reminder of where it came from (summink supermarket beef buyers are all too happy to ignore).

Finally got the call from the taxidermist last week.
I'm very pleased with the result. The hardest part is figuring out his final home...
