I'm baaacckkk. Sorry I had to run yesterday guys......my daughter wanted on the net.
Well, I done gone and bought myself a new 'puter, a HP a1350a....well the missus paid for it. Taken me all day to get it sort of sorted out. Still got some minor hassles with it. I'm just about ready to shoot the bloody mouse with my 12g though. It keeps screaming off to the edges and corners of the screen for no apparent reason. First time I've had a mouse with no ball, just a red light (don't know if it is a laser). S'pose I'll get used to it. Best part is the BENQ 19" flat screen LCD monitor.
Anyway.....I'm back so watch this space.
Cheers, Vince

with a balless mouse. optical mouse,
some times a piece of lint or hair will get under the mouse where the red lazer light shines threw. this will make the mouse jiggle and do crazzy things.
just clean it out and it should start working good.
if the underside is clean , no lint or hair. then the mouse might be bad.
my brothers mouse did the same thing , it was bad. he had to buy a new one.
another good on line friend of mine had the same problem , her mouse was bad too. she also got it brand new.
I do recommend getting a mouse with out a ball. the opitical mouses are the best in my oppinion. as long as they work like they should.
I would say the drivers might not be rigth, but since it is a new pc and probley had the system operating program already installed , it probley had all programs and hardware drivers preinstalled. so that should not be a problem.
any usb optical mouse you get should be plug and play. so no drivers need to be installed.
if you have any probems with your pc. let me know, I might be able to help out. if I can't or do not know, I know I can find the answere. I do all my own pc teck work.
the other two sites I belong to are comptuer forums, made to help out people with any kind of pc problem.
I would not post these links but I feel that if any one needs help with a pc probelm it would be a good place to ask help. I have been a member (moderator or admin ) at these two sites for about 4 or 5 years.
the shack I had started. optical edge , I was a member of it when it first started.

Vince,
Go to the company you bought the computer from and download the latest drivers.
If that doesnt help then there is always tech support

Vince, on the left side of this site it says tech support. That's for you.

Congratulations on the new puter, I wish I could get a new one. I'm still running Windows 98SE. Hopefully in the next couple years I'll get a new one.

I keep hearing good things about windows XP and I sure would like to try it. I have 2 puters in my house and they are both 98SE. The one is a pure P.I.T.A.
It keeps locking up and so on. This one, touch wood, seems to be not bad. Now microsoft no longer supports 98SE, as if that really matters for the amount of support you really get. My son has XP and likes it and has no problems.

1895,
I'm one of thouse that hate XP too many problems. I perfer Windows 2000 the most myself
When a operating system needs "Auto Download" on for updates because without constant updates you will find something new to mess it up with I'll avoid it. A patch they released for example before they had SP2 made computers run half the normal processing speeds! Took them I belive 3 weeks to fix that little problem.
Windows XP is pretty good with SP2 ... but I lost faith in it between the time it was released and the time SP2 came out. Only reason I use it is because my brother wants to play computer games on my computer and Windows 2000 was never ment as a gaming OS.
Bushmaster,
I've seen XP run on a computer with 256mb's of memory and a 400MHz processor ... you dont need the latest and greatest. Most computers I'd say 400MHz and over with a decent amount of RAM added (since most didnt have much to start with) should do fine. Your system might not like it thought at only 400Mhz though.

Bushmaster,
If it was made3 years ago then it should be good to go for Windows XP
AT-Plus is some Californian computer company that "makes" custom computers so I'd have to imagine they put have decent stuff in there sytems
