I sold my late friend's Accuracy International rifle, as at 18lbs it was a tad heavy for hauling through the woods & over the hills.

Nice, incredibly accurate but impractical.

After doing some serious research & even more serious cogitating, I settled on a Schultz & Larsen Victory in .243.

Being a lefty, there's a limited choice in maker & these guys seem to know their stuff, all the way to still using cut rifling in their barrels, so far less movement in a barrel as it heats up.
My preferred gun dealer called yesterday to say there was one available left handed but...

...it had an exhibition grade stock, as it had been built for someone who then backed out of the sale & thus cost an arm & a leg.

I gave in after he offered me $1,500 off the going price. Bonk

I drive down to pick it up on Thursday. Very Happy

Good pick up mate. It’s a shame you decided to part with your late friend’s rifle, but if you weren’t likely to use it then you made the right decision.

As a fellow lefty, I can appreciate the woes in gun selections. Do post pictures when you get the rifle though, sounds like a thing of beauty!

Scope's an unused 6x42 Leupold FX-II I've had sitting waiting for the right rifle & the rings are S&L's own.
They can be slackened & the scope moved back ½" with a sub MOA change of POI for use in winter when heavier clothing's worn.
I've some boxes of factory ammunition to try but I'll get my press mounted on the bench again & work up some handloads, Bullets to hand are 100gr Hornady Interlocks, 90gr Sierra GameKings, 90gr moly coated Lapua Scenars & 55gr Sierra BlitzKings - that latter for foxes.

That is a sweet looking rifle mate. I like the idea of the Scope rings too. The wood in the stock is absolutely gorgeous mate...nicest piece of wood I’ve seen in a long time.

It depends. If you like it, then go for it. Nice looking rifle and great caliber. I like a story with a happy ending. All the best...

Beside the beautiful wood, that’s what jumped out at me.

Doesn’t that automatically make a rifle evil?

Though regulated in the same manner as firearms ( Mad ), they're easy to get in the UK. What's needed is "good reason" & that simply enough is health & safety, as they reduce environmental noise & protect the user & others' hearing.
The funny one is .22 rimfire suppressors: Get one that's proofed for rimfire & it's covered by the regulations but if you get exactly the same suppressor that hasn't been proofed as it's intended for use on an air rifle, it's $40 instead of $60 & does the same job, only it's probably an offence to use it on a rimfire (some allegedly work quite well on .224 centrefire too).
I have three .22 suppressors, with one on my ticket & the others only ever get used on air rifles....

Nice....hope you enjoy yer new "switch-hitter".

I have a buddy that's a lefty. He has the same challenges. Esp. for pistol. Even if the maker markets one, there's low demand and back-orders. I told him stop yer wingin, switch-hit, it's easy to learn, problem solved.

He told me to stuff it! Laughing

great looking rifle. once youve used cans on a centrefire it is plurry hard to go bare barrel again as they make things so much more "pleasant"...that man looks to be modular......have a tootoo and try it with less baffles for tight bush work and even borrow a few more and try super silent mode .....
I tried my large .224 centrefire suppressor on std .22lr and it was no quieter than wee one when using high velocity rounds....you cant get rid of the sonic craack. very quiet with subs though...... which brings up another fun way to play....find softest projectile you can get and case full of trailboss and work downwards till you go subsonic...great for bunnies and finishing shots on big stuff.I imagine it would be interesting on whistled up foxes too.
