Hello...
Brand New to the forum. I'm from northern lower Michigan. I've been shooting prairie dogs in the Badlands area for 7 year's now. Always on private land. But ranchers have taken to poisoning. And the dogs are all but gone. Has anyone shot near the Buffalo gap area South of the Badlands? I understand there's some public land open to shooting there. Any info would be great. Thanks

Welcome to the site. I didnt realize Pdogs ranged so far east. They are indeed fun to shoot, too fun in fact. Our DWR actually put a "season" on them and they close it in the spring during birthing time so there will be more dogs to shoot... ironic eh?

Yes... The Badlands area is great for dogs. Beautiful terrain. My last hook up was 12 miles west of wall. 10 thousand acre ranch. Breaks my heart the
Dogs are gone

Wow!! Your first post gets the Bossman!
Welcome to this fine sight. Grab one of Vince's beers, pull up a stump next to the fire and enjoy.

Well I got my answer today....made a call to the Forrest service. A very nice lady told me there is some public land shooting to be had. But said she tells people that if shooting prairie dogs on public land is your soul reason for coming to the Badlands area don't waste your time.. due to plague and drought dog populations are down 70%.
Well I'm still gonna spend the winter at the reloading bench. Hopefully find new ground with dogs somewhere. I refuse to think this the end.
