Wow! I thought I was a pretty good history buff, but you guys are teaching me some things I never heard about. But then again, us Yanks, always teach history from our perspective.

That's okay, I'm a city boy that became a country boy. I guess I could even be called a half-redneck. Shared a tent with a whole bunch of good ole boys while in the army. They got me into country music, and real southern food. We also had a bunch of brothers, chicanos, full blooded native Americans, and everyone you can think of in that tent.
Guess you could also call me confused.

My brother in law Bill King is the Canadian Army HQ's Sargent Major (MWO) and he was responsible for the parade that was held at Vimy this year. He spent two weeks over there giving tours to Canadian school kids and drilling the regiment for the parade and remembrance. He came home after the ceremonies during Easter with his girls and informed us that he will be promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and Regimental Sargeant Major of the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (2VP) effective 22 June 2017. Great news and my prediction of him being groomed for the Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer. The highest non-commissioned rank/appointment in our military.

Ron, please pass my regards etc onto your brother in law for his achievements mate...RSM of a Battalion and ultimately of the Army is a much sought after and highly regarded posting. As an aside, Princess Patricia's Light Infantry came out to Australia in the late 70's on exchange with our Battalion in Brisbane. A great bunch of guys to work with. |
