It is my understanding that once a receiver is manufactured, the company has 72 hours to report the serial numbers of those receivers to the ATF and failed to do so in a timely manner. ATF supposedly seized all of the undocumented receivers along with some undocumented fully automatic weapons the owner had and the fact that quite a few of the guns that were reported went missing. Hopefully under new ownership the company will be back up and running. I bought one of their rifles earlier in the year and it's a top notch AR.

"New Britain-based Stag Firearms LLC pleaded guilty Tuesday to violating federal firearms laws and as part of a plea agreement company president and owner Mark Malkowski agreed to sell the company and have no further ownership or management role in a gun manufacturer.

The company, with Malkowski serving as its representative, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Hartford to a single felony count of possession of a machine gun not registered to the company.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is also revoking Stag’s federal license to manufacture firearms."

A sad situation when someone messes up this bad. It doesn't help our gun-rights situation.

I've used Stag receivers to good effect on competition rifles.

How dumb can you be to allow such lax practises to become prevalent?
