Three days and an early wake up until I get to start chasing Birds again. The boat is ready, calls are in the truck, shells are on the counter, guns cleaned and oiled with care, decoys are ready to hit the water. Three weeks of early goose season then straight in to duck opener without a break!!! We have a whole crew of us hitting the swamp on the goose opener so we can bounce them around the lake.

Stovey, you don't seem to be that big an heavy. Ever tried to send yourself by mail? That shouldn't be too expensive.
And yes, I know Murphy so I would suggest to take enough food and beer to cover the trip twice, in case Bushy should refuse your package and send it back to sender...

Laughing

Me and the Benelli could fit in a duffle bag and it wouldnt weigh more than a bunch of dirty laundry. Doubt I'd survive the baggage crew though. Or that they'd be enough room for grub and suds. Bushy'd proly keep the gun and boose, and kick me back to the curb for pickup! Shocked Mad

Go get some Wiersay...they look like they would be a lot of fun to hunt mate, and would look even better on the table.

Cheers, Vince

Can you believe duck-season also opens here tomorowmorning? And till now nobody of my friends called to make some plans...

Amazed? Don't be, because we have other "problems". We are only 3,5 left... one is recovering from a severe bike-accident (lost his milt, had also a broken liver, knee, elbow and several other bones), another just had chemo and radiation and will loose part of or his complete left lung on 18th September...

It makes you realize that today is the first day of the rest of your life!

And don't worry, the ducks will wait till our dogs decide to start training their bodies to be ready for the big opening small game on 15th October.

Well the weekend didn't go as planned. It was in the upper 80's and the geese didn't cooperate. I did have three com in about 30 feet out and 50 feet up............. way to close for the 10ga I saw the shot cup go right past them.

you will have to learn to treat their head like a quail and shoot for that. thats the best bit of goose shooting advice I was ever given.
