Russel Sports or Wholesale Sports in Calgary don't have one?

Russels say they have 3 on order, they just don't know the ETA. Wholesales here in Edm have none...duhhh, I never thought to ask if Calgary had any.

Another place to try is S.I.R in Winnipeg. They are great to deal with as is Russel Sports in Calgary.

Hey 1895,....Found a Savage FV12!! Darned if there wasn't one at Wholesale in Calgary.
I was reading (with envy) the Cabellas website for bulk ammo.
500 rnds of .223 loaded with Hornady 55gr Vmax for $290 Shocked
Thats 58 cents a round. You get an even better price buying a thousand rnds. Yes it is factory "remanufactured" but still.....
I haven't found any Canadian stores with prices vs quantities like that.

I have used the the 52 grain bullets in my 24" barrel .223 with a 1 in 9 twist for at least 15 years now and they work great. It will take game as big as coyotes without a problem. I don't think it the weight matters so much I've used 50 to 62 grains with good results as long as it's a quality bullet.

Rick:
I shoot 40gr Nosler over 26.5 gr of benchrest with fed 205m primers out of my Savage 1:9. It shoots .625moa consistently and when i do my part the group will go to half that size (no coffee!). A friend shoots the same twist in his Savage with moly 40 gr with similar results. Give them a try in your rifle you may be pleasently surprised.

I'm glad you found one. I figured there would have to be one somewhere. Wholesale Sports in Calgary has a larger inventory cause when anyone from anywhere orders through mailorder it comes out of Calgary. As for the ammo, you won't find that kind of pricing in Canada. All the dealers here want to get rich overnite. Very Happy

MY .02 Cents worth:
I have found that a 1 in 9 in this caliber will handle anything from a 50gr up to 80grs. My personal rifle likes the 60 gr bullets the best. Very Happy Laughing

Mad Mad Mad
%#@$!#^#$% WHOLESALE!!!
I get a phone call from Wholesale saying they can't find the rifle! I say thats pi$$ poor inventorying. How the f*** can you "LOSE" a rifle???
Then I ask how long before the 5 they have on order show up?
"....oh...maybe between 3 to 5 months if they show up sir. Would you like us to process your order and just backorder it and call you when its in?"
Confused NOT!!!!
I cancelled the order. Mad

That hurts when a guy is ready and waiting for a new rifle, but I know what you mean, that's my biggest beef with Wholesale. Their inventory control is something else. That's about the same response I got when I wanted to order a Marlin 17hmr from them about 2 years ago. I ended up getting it from S.I.R. Wholesales customer service stinks and I don't know how they survive. I haven't ordered anything from them since last summer when I put in an order the beginning of Aug and after numerous calls I finally got it the end of Sept and then they double billed me. I got it cleared up but haven't ordered from them since. I get most of my stuff from either Russel Sports or S.I.R.

Cabellas has supposedly bought out S.I.R. in Winnipeg, so hopefully they keep coming west.

Ok, Savage lost a sale.
I bought a Remington SPS "Varmint" in .223 for $50 less than the Savage would have cost.
Then trigger is very crisp with *zero* creep or over travel. Even supposed to be adjustable according to the sales guy. We'll see...Even if I have to buy a Timminy trigger....at least I have a .223 now.

Congrats, that should be a great rifle. That likely has a 1 -12" twist right?
Have fun and let us know how it shoots. Smile
