I was one the firingline forum a while back, and the subject was the Lee Classic Turret Press.
I said that I have always loaded with my Lyman All American, but would like to go from loading 2 Boxes of .45ACP's and hour, to 4 Boxes an hour like the Lee Classic Turret Press does. I don't want to spend the money for, or trust the Progressive Reloaders, because I will be shooting Bullseye, and like to move a little slower on my reloading.
The next day, a gentleman e-mail me offering to sell his Lee Turret Press with all of the fixings. He never reloaded before, and found this to be too complicated to use. I asked him how much and he told me $75.00 + $10.00 Shipping.
I sent him the money and the unit was mailed to me from his place yesterday.
Here is what he has:Double Disk Kit--Safety Primer Feed, Large--Pro Auto-Dist Powder Measure--Micrometer Adjustable Charge Bar--Auto-Dist Riser--Lee Classic Turret.
Not bad for $85.00 hey. I gave him extra money for shipping and he thanked me.
He has all the parts in their original boxes with instructions.
He gave me advice about where he had problems, and then said that if I didn't like it, I could send it back.
I told him that I would keep it.

So what do you guys think about the deal??
I should get it in a few days.

Eric

The Press got here today.
Everything was packed great, with all the instructions.
I can see that it is brand new, and not used, so tomorrow I will mount it, and get it going--I hope.
Will let you know how it works.

Gidday Eric, well done on your score mate. Sounds like you have scored a great deal.

Don't write the progressives off mate.....I used to load 357MAG for my Model 586 on a Lee 1000 Progressive and I was extremely impressed with it. I never had a problem with my loads. I would recommend this press to anyone.

Cheers, Vince

I've got it up and running, and it is a remarkable unit.
Simple engineering that works just great.
I'm missing the Auto-Disk Riser and will order one from Midway in the morning.
Without it I can't use the Auto Primer Feeder.
I do think that it will produce at least 200 of my 45ACP's an hour, which is all that I need.
I am amazed at the accuracy of the Powder Measure.
I have many powder disks, but installed the Micro Measure instead.
I played around with weighing the loads for a while, and found them quite accurate. Withing 1-2 tenths of a grain. I will blame myself for even that variance because I need to get the feel of the lever, and give more uniform pulls.
The unit itself was a dream to put together. Just had to think and take time.
I AM a happy camper. Very Happy

Erioc Very Happy ,

You DID score a good price. I just got the very same package from Midway and it was something more than what you paid. BTW, for anyone else interested, they are on sale there now for $13 off the $102 price of the press kit.

You must have more experience with this stuff than I because it took me quite some time to get it all together. I didn't think the instructions were all that good at putting the different components together.

I got it for the same reason you did, loading hand gun rolls, which I'm just getting into. That and having the dies on the plates so they don't have to be reset is convenient but think I'll stick with the Green Machine for the rifle loading.

While that auto indexing feature is good for pistol loads (I hope) it is not that useful if cleaning primer pockets, flash holes, etc.. and the rifle dies don't have that pour through feature for loading the powder. You can buy one to do that, I think, but I like to weigh every load for rifle ammo while the pistol powder charge isn't quite as critical on weight and that Micrometer Adjustable Charge Bar should be accurate enough for them.

At any rate, good luck with it. I may be back to you for advice on it.

Just one more thing, when that auto index thing quits working right and begins mis-aligning, the little square black nylon part that fell outta the packing and you have no idea what it is for.... it's for that indexing rod, what rotates it. Nowhere could I find any description or mention of it - until I happened to notice it in the section of the instructions for "Converting from a 3 Hole turret to a 4 Holer"! It does NOT appear anywhere in Lee's catalog, that I could find. Go figure.

e-mail me if you have any questions Marshall.
The guy that I purchased the unit from, added all of the extras with it, so the entire cost would be around $250.00 if ordered new.
I am using it for my .45ACP only, but might put my 9mm dies on if I need to reload a lot of them.
I am using my Lyman All American loader for my rifle cartridges for the same reason as you are. I weigh each load so I'm in no hurry.
I have loaded quite a bunch with the Lee with no problems at all.
It is one fine reloader.
