Got this fella last light November first and I mean last light. I socked it to him with the .270 i picked up a couple weeks ago topped with a crappy little 3-9x32 Simmons that is probably old as I am. It took us 2 hours to bring him out of the clearing that I shot him in. He wasn't more than a 100 yards from the road but it was a steep hill with more slash then I have ever seen in a logged clearing. He is the biggest buck I have ever gotten. Antler wise I have shot others that compare closely but he is a pretty big bodied deer. If it weren't for my brother I would still be trying to get him out of that damn clearing lol just kidding. He saved my bacon though, he risked re-breaking his foot to help me out and I am grateful. This is the best season my family has had in a very long time. Nearly all tags were filled and the season ends this Friday. Next its on to Elk season.

Yeah Elvis...

Nice job. What part of Oregon did you get him?

I did most of my hunting east of Coos Bay in the Coastal Range and east of Seattle in the Cascades. Love hunting Blacktail. One wily smart deer.

He is a Coastal buck. I got him about 2 hours from coos bay. Black tail are considered the most illusive of all deer, at least I read that somewhere lol. Some get one every year while others like myself tend to get them in spurts. I managed to get 50 lbs of meat from him which is a pretty decent sized black tail. You ever come back this way Bush you should drop me a line. Unfortunately we only get on buck tag per year no matter whether it is for mule deer, black tail or white tail and white tail tags are tough to get here. Also we cannot hunt archery season, rifles season and black powder season all in the same year either. If we purchase a tag its the only one we get for that year. Doe tags can be easy to get depending on the unit you apply for but again they are only one tag one deer chances. I'm heading east next fall for my first mule deer hunt hopefully. Thanks everyone. I hope I am successful with my elk hunt considering I have never gotten an elk.
By the way all of those pictures were taken with my phone and the only one I am not happy with entirely is the one of my son holding the head because for some reason his face is a little out of focus.

Rules haven't changed much sense I lived in Oregon. I grew up in Coos Bay. I lived in the Liby area next to Coal Bank Slough.

Nice one!! I can't seem to find a buck this year. Western Oregon is a tough place to hunt for sure. Only one day left for me and I got the day off, after that I'm tryin for a doe but it's restricted to weekends only. I'm not getting out much, the weather and the work situation.....complain complain....

Oh I like the photo of your son with the blurry face, it accentuates his enthusiasm!! Have fun with the good eats and good luck on the elk hunt!
