Got my last spike using a patched round ball and 90 grains of FFG.
Killed a few that way, right now I use a .44 cal, 240grn hornady XTP out of all my smokepoles. I use the green Hornady sabots. They shoot fantastically and drive deep through critters. For elk I use the 300grn version.
I use 90grns Pyro RS, my boy had it loaded up with 80grns.
