www.news.com.au/nation...6093749448

This man came home at 1am, found 4 intruder waiting for him.
He managed to wrestle a gun from one of the intruder, and apparently in the scuffle managed to shoot the intruder dead.

So whats the problem?

Well, here in Oz, it happens that If you use a gun, then you are the bad guy..
so the home owner is now defending a manslaughter charge, and the poolice is recommending "no bail"..

Aren't we lucky to life in the lucky country?
where the criminal run free
where the good guys cowers, bends over and presents..

The police should have been congratulating him, not arresting him! What is the world coming to??

Me thinks we are NOT getting the whole story here.
This has all the earmarks of druggies in action.
Is the corpse guilty of home invasion, you bet and got what he deserved.
Is the shooter the knight in shining armour, defending his home and castle?
I severly doubt it is as simple as that.
The cops know something is going on here apart from a home invasion gone wrong, hence the charge.
They now have to prove the charge.

The media and the cops are anti gun, according to both the cops are the only one who should have guns.
Our politicians hate guns in the hands of the public, funny how the worst of these have armed guards defending them.
The crims dont give a shit and have guns on tap.

Me thinks dhc4ever got a point. Queensland laws are very similar to NZ and to charge with manslaughter ( about the same as 2nd degree murder to the yanks) isn't something you just pull out of the hat. There's gotta be a solid investigation behind it. Here its worth a life sentence (10 years minimum) if the circumstances fit the crime.

I'd say wait and see what comes out of the inevitable trial.

P.S. I keep telling my missus I done two life sentences already. LOL

I have to agree with both Pete and Radar...certainly more to this than what meets the eye.

I know the area that this took place; I am thinking that this incident has something to do with bikers (the Comancheros, Finks, Lone Wolf and Black Uhlans in that area) or it is drug related.

I think I'll reserve opinion until I hear more info.

Cheers, Vince

Intruders don't usually wait for you, they steal the valuables and leave before you come home from a night at the bar.

So I'll have to agree something smells fishy.

Another shooting overnight on the Gold Coast...that makes 3 in seven weeks.

There is a drug culture in the area (as there is in most touristy areas) so there is no doubt in my mind that drugs are involved somehow.

Also as I said...I know the area that this took place; I am thinking that this incident has something to do with bikers (the Comancheros, Finks, Lone Wolf and Black Uhlans in that area) or it is drug related. I forgot to mention that a lot of the "area" is "under the control" of the Fat Mexicans...The Bandidos.

There is also a migration north of Lebanese from Sydney...could be a power struggle between different groups...another highly likely scenario.
