That hippo hunt was the most disgusting display of hunting I have ever seen...did you see the location of the last arrow? Terrible. The PH should not be allowed to hunt or guide ever again after that...same with the lion hunt. I reckon that lion was drugged to start off with.

drugged??? mate it looked like it was being hand fed jellymeat that morning!!!! we have seen the same thing with deer over here the big white hunter pays his/her trophy fee $5000-$100,000 and takes home "the biggest stag Ive ever seen" or some such PH b.s. Ive watched a video of this with a rifle its not much better, quicker for sure but still not really fair chase. they are "collectors" not hunters.
not my cuppa tea.

I can't agree more Elvis...in fact I refuse to trophy hunt at all...I hunt for the joy of the hunt and the meat...unless its feral critters, then its for the environment.

To bad that hippo that was shot in the face didn't tip the boat over, these guys were not doing anything for hunting, it's called ego hunting. Sad

There's supposed to be a minimum caliber for hunting dangerous game in Africa which is 375 caliber, the same should be with a bow. Bow should be restricted to gazelle type game animals. It will probably take a few accidents to make this happen with bow hunting in Africa.

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner.
I wouldn't call someone that shoots an animal with something that is not designed to kill it quickly, and humanely, a Hunter. They are a Disgrace! That being said, I've hunted deer with a bow for many seasons, and I have never had a deer run more than 100 yds. before it died, and most were less than that. Like Omnivision1 said before, it's all about shot placement, and having the discipline to pass up a shot that you are not 100% sure you can make. I have let many deer walk because they were 40 yds. away, and I am only comfortable with a 30 yd. shot, or there was tree branch in the way, or he was still walking. If conditions aren't right , you can't take the shot. I'd rather wait until next season to fill the freezer.
