Dang the size of that rack, something us hunters can only dream about.

Nice buck.
There is a 70,000 acre ranch south of me that didn't allow hunting for about 50 years. The family that owned it, just didn't allow it. That is one place I'd like to hunt, just to see what I could find.
I hunted an adjacent ranch one time and got to see a buck across the fence in that ranch that looked like it had a rocking chair on his head!
If we didn't shoot them until they were six plus years old, we'd have some great deer to look at.
In my county, they are trying to increase the size of the bucks. We are still allowed to kill 5 deer, but no more than 2 bucks. One has to have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater, the second has to be a spike. They tried this in a neighboring county (where my brother hunts) over the last couple of years, and it has worked great. Now, they are starting to see some great looking deer.

This would sure give some guys buck fever! Make some hunters pour out lots of money for guided or hunts in controlled area. I'm in it for the venison.

Those are not northern genetics...................they are "modified" northern genetics that wouldn't make it through a winter in a real woods !!!

Sorry for the rant.....I'll shut up now !!!

that rack is big but its as ugly as sin.
we see the same type of thing over here with red deer in deer farms and some HUGE wapity too. they are used for velvet production and occasionally sold off to safari parks to be shot by some rich trophy collector behind a fence. not my cuppa tea but they sure are huge.
there is a flip side to this. see if you can find N.Z. Rod&Rifle JAN/FEB 2011
and read about young fellas big stag/hard luck. he shot it fair chase in his usual hunting area it went 454 3/4 on the douglas score but was disallowed in the NZDA compitition cause of dought as to its wild status. it would be enough to make you cry.I really feel for this young bloke. he has a trophy to be proud of his kids and there kids too.

That rack would be getting hung up in the tree branches every other day!

Pen raised, genetically altered bucks mean nothing to me.
Wasn't too long ago some "doctor" had a hunting show where they were hunting pen raised bucks here in Ohio, expecting the viewers to believe they were wild deer. They messed up one episode where you could see someone in the woods "pushing" the deer towards the "hunter". One other episode actually showed the deer at their feed trough....
