I just read a couple of the reviews for the Remake of "True Grit" and they were all positive. I hope I have time this weekend to go see it, since the original is my favorite movie of all time, The Duke, my favorite actor, and Rooster Cogburn, my favorite character. Some remakes end up being just as good or better than the original (Cape Fear comes to mind), but I don't know....

I saw that they'd remade it and wondered if they could pull it off. Some movies are just classics and I'm afraid the remakes will just be a poor imitation. They are also planning to remake "The Wizard of Oz" and I doubt they can find the talent to do it.

I hadn't heard that they were going to remake the Wizard of Oz. That's gonna be a tough one! Some movies were great because of the time they were made. A remake may not have the same impact as the original. I think it's that way for "Wizard of Oz".

The original True Grit was terrific, I'm still not sure how I feel about the remake. its from The Cohan brothers and they do do some fantastic films... although with a unique twist (anyone see No Country for Old Men?)
One movie I'm eagerly awaiting is Cowboys and Aliens. Fantastic cast (Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford) and directed by Jon Favreau with Spielburg and Ron Howard.
Here is the movie trailer:

I agree, True Grit is one of my favorite John Wayne movies. It seems to me that Hollywood has run out of original ideas and have to keep rebooting the old movies.

Like Cowboys dont have enough trouble! Now they have to deal with aliens too! and as far as the remake of "True Grit" goes, I realy aint interested in seeing anyone other than John Wayne playing Rooster Cogburn, It just aint right for some reason.

Olivia Wilde is her name. She is on the TV Series House and is also in the new Tron movie.
You all can tell I like the sci-fi stuff... here is an interesting war movie that will come out this spring:
Battle for Los Angeles

I'm just a fan of good movies, westerns, war, scifi whatever, I just love a good movie and am glad there is alot of interesting stuff on the horizon.

Thanks Dallan.
Hmmm, Olivia Wilde just might be my new favorite actress....Anyway, I like a good movie as well, Western, Action, Mystery, Sci Fi. I like them all as long as it's a good story. No chick flicks though, I just can't deal with it. I tried to do it for the wife, but as soon as they start talking about thier relationships or, broken heart because he left me, I'm cuttin' wood like a chain saw!

Yep, Like what I see. Also watched Battle LA trailer and that looks like a good shoot em up alien film as well. Every hero's gotta have a hot chick in these things. Even Forrest Gump!
