Well folksI got a new job - well almost got it barr the paperwork and appeals period.

I applied for and got a Promotion to Senior Sergeant in the NZ Police. Stationed in Hamilton. That means we will probably move back to Morrinsville, yeah same place the joke was about!

For you unfamiliar with NZ Police its the highest of the Non Commissioned Officer positions. - You have to get a frontal lobotomy to go higher ! Its Police equivalent to an RSM or CSM, and gives me line control of the Hamilton City and rural area - approx population 200k people. Up to 60 staff a shift.

It took me 9 attempts to become a Sergeant but somehow I nailed this one on the first attempt.

I will probably take the new position prior to Xmas and move the family once our house sells.

Am I stoked? - sure are.

Yeah, I did get a rise but not that big.
I can go hunting again in all my old haunts, the local golf club used me all the time for rabbit control, and them deers are only 20 min away so i don't think I'm gonna miss out that much.

Its funny but when you live by the beach you don't go to the beach for holidays which is a annual pilgrimage made by a large percentage of inland living kiwis. It will be nice to be able to do that.

Congratulations Radar. The jump up to Senior Sergeant is not an easy one mate. You don't have to be the same sort of "political beast" that the Inspectors and up must be, but you still need to understand that "system"...if for no other reason than your own sanity and peace of mind.

As an aside...my youngest daughter was in Auckland, Rotorua and Hamilton a couple of weeks ago...she reckons Hamilton is s lovely spot. However, she said Rotorua STINKS...all the sulphur I would imagine.

great to hear Radar. Morrinsvilles a great spot and those sika just down the road will be shaking in the bushes with you being so much closer. 20 mins to some great red deer hunting. trout all around you. ducks and pheasants galore great move buddy hope it all goes well.

OK Elvis....you gotta arrange for a gathering in Hamilton so we can all get in there and experience this for ourselves mate. It sounds awesome.

Gimme a couple of months to get organised and I'm sure I could jack up a week or twos worth of trouble; hunting game and fowl and probably throw in some sea fishing in the Coromandel, Best time for fowl is May which opens our Game Bird season, April for the Roar and fishing when ever you want.

The correct title is "Senior" in public but I generally answer to "Radar" or "boss" thats the type of manager I am, I don't get tied up on titles except when in public and even then I like to be approachable.

As for the party - I'm gonna have to hire out a bar at this rate....
the boss - she that must be listened to - not nessecarily obeyed is in houses elleing mode and mess in the house is not allowed - come to think of it I might have to move out since I'm the biggest mess!!!!

You don't look old enough to be "Senior" at least compared to most of the membership here.
