Is there a shortage of their normal food or have they learned to like people?

I reckon they like beer.. and the only way they can get some is to chomp on beer drinker..
Since it is a crime to pour beer into the ocean here..

But then again I might be wrong there.. Cheers

Its not illegal...but it should be, 'cause it's sacrilege to pour fresh beer into the ocean. The only way it is acceptable to pour beer into the ocean is after you have strained it through your kidneys in order to extract the goodness from within said beer. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I learned the hard way, after my second bag fulla uppercuts, to NEVER let beer touch the ground (or water) around Vince unless you've drunk it first. Very Happy

Naw. Its because the Aussies TRY to become dinner.

When I lived near Sydney I surfed on Bondi Beach. Look outs would call out a shark warning when a pack of a gazzillion leopard sharks or tiger sharks would cruise along the beach. The Aussies would CALMLY stroll to shore and when the sharks passed they would plunge back in so quick I'm sure they landed on sharks' tails. wtf

On the other hand, I would CALMLY call it a day and find something else to do! (Like down a tinney or two or four) Very Happy

Haha Haha Haha Haha Haha

There is safety in numbers TC...a shark can only chew on one thing at a time. You just need to make sure that you are not the first thing it can reach. Very Happy Very Happy Laughing

Yea Vince, but remember a gazillion sharks can bite a gazillion people. Anyway, that scene was NOT for me. That would be about the time I would feel the urge for a hot cup of coffee across the street. Very Happy

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Always loved the surf as a young fella...spent as many hours as I could at the beach.

Having grown up in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, I took every opportunity I could to escape to the beach. More often than not it was to South Cronulla or Narrabeen. On other occasions I would drive about 100 miles south of Sydney, just past Tikkat's neck of the woods, down to a place called Gerringong and Gerroa. A beautiful beach 7 miles long (called Seven Mile Beach strangely enough) with great surf and fishing.

Saw my first Bronze Whaler shark there when I was snorkeling off the headland. Big bugger, about 3 metres, with teeth that looked even bigger. My Dad reckon I "walked" on the water to get back onto the rocks.

Cheers, Vince

Haha Haha

I rode with one of the locals to see in-laws and I believe I remember they lived on Narrabeen. Small world huh? I liked Sydney. I lived in an apartment in Bondi Heights. Just a short stroll to catch a bus then the train, then to EVERYWHERE. Very Happy Never made it up to Brisbane though. Sorry I didn't. I have a dog named Sydney now and a male named Brisbane. I would have stayed and bought a cattle station, that was what I had planned...but the gun and hunting laws convinced me I needed to come back home. Confused

Oddly enough, I never surfed before I went there, and haven't done it since. It was one of those midlife "gotta dos". Marked it off the bucket list. Very Happy
