Kabong report:
Angeles Shooting Ragnes
T- 80-80 *
H- 10%
E- 500'
W- variable @ 10 mph
Load-
66.7gr H-4831 (long cut, went up .2gr for a bit more pressure/case fill)
200 SMK .010" OTL
Remington Mag primer
Federal case, "09" stamp, neck sized only.
Approx velocity 2650-2700' p/sec.
After quick bore sight, shot off bench w/ bipod only and fist under buttstock.
100y zero- 3 shots clover leafed. (forgot camera, pic later if ya like), 1 shot every 5 mins, 3 shot strings. Barrel temp warm, never hot.
Impresssions: non-abusive report and recoil (well, for a 300 mag anyways)w/ this 9.5# rifle, even w/ muzzle brake. Primers are nice and round w/ no graining to speak of, bolt face is clean.
No sings of over-pressure at all. Clean too after 25 rounds. Barely any blue patches during clean up.
Replaced: rings and bases w/ Weaver Grand Slam.
Used a wee bit more right windage to zero than I wished but...
After 10 shots nothing came loose. Then zero'ed for 200.
Please note- I don't use bags or stands, I shoot prone or off the becnh w/ bipod only. Paper aint my thing, steel targets are. I also have a very shakey hold.
Doped 200, 300y gongs and silohettes w/ no misses. 400y was 75% as wind and mirage started to really get bad and inconsistent. I need a spotter for beyond 400y as I can't see the splash when I miss.
W/ spotter I can get dope for 500y and beyond with one sighter.
This is now a proven, nonabusive, very safe laod.
Next up: RE22 laod testing.
El Kabong is back to top gong-bonging form. The trigger on this rifle is spot on, zero creep, crisp and 2.75# pull. What a great shooter and the price is right. If you need a killer rifle on a budget, might wana take a look at Mossberg line-up. My expectations have been exceeded.
