My first post here
I have been using PB 1.0.0.1 off and on since at least 2000 (by the date on some of my text files).
Today I was compiling a recent 40 loads/250 round range session of ladder groups for 62gr 223 to determine powder/charge accuracy combos out of 20" & 16" bbls. To make my chore easier I wondered where that program was that let me put bullet holes on a target... ah there it is - Hey I wonder if there is an update....Well waddayaknow... here I am.
I downloaded the beta 2.0 and have been playing with it and am very pleased with the nice job being done. I will read through the various forum posts to see what has been said/done then I will probably have a few questions that I will make separate posts on and also a few 'suggestions' I hope will be taken constructively for overall program improvement.
Once again, A great job on a much needed task
Thanks
Al aka SyberShooter

My bad, I assumed that the Point Blank Software originated on this sight.
Again, glad you joined us!
Can anyone provide the history of PB application? DallanC?

with a little more searching, I've determined this web site had its first post on Jan 18, 2005.

I don't know when or where I first d/l'd PB v1.0.0.1. Most of the data is from back in 2000 and are of a couple AR's I was testing back then. As I recall I was really impressed with the ability to enter target info directly as my main use was keeping a record of load development. Then I had some problem where all my data got lost or corrupted or something and I started re-entering it but got busy and let it sit a few years. I toyed with the app a few times but never got into it deep due to the previous experience. I got a traveling job in 2004 and didn't look to see if there were any updates until recently. I am pleased with the progress that has been made and am trying to import all my old data (with some success and some glitches).
Having been in IT for the past ummmm 30 yrs with some programming experience and a shooter since the early 60's, maybe I can help smooth out some of the nuances I see. Right now I am getting used to the new format.

Here is a little nostalgia from the old 1.001 history file... looks like DC has been at it quite a while now.

Hi all, sorry for the late replies, was out of town for the past week... did some camping up in the mts with my inlaws.
Anywho SyberShooter has it right. PointBlank started off as a simple excercize in ballistics that I was curious about. I got the basic thing working and posted it on the net where a few people found it and started using it. As time went on people made suggestions which I tacked on. Over time it became a huge mess so I rewrote it in the style most of you were familiar with (ending in version 1.8a).
I rewrote it again starting with the current v2.0 and added alot more flexability in it, resizing, reorganized a few things etc etc.
So yea, HuntingNut.com got registered back in 1999 give or take. In 2005 I changed the website over to what you see now, with better forums, pictures etc. My stats keeping prior to 2005 was crude at best... our current software measures things alot more accurately.
I do have notes on the differences between most software versions... but its fairly boring to read
