Windows 7 is worth the jump from Vista. Actually don't even think about it just do it.
Not as nice as WinXP, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. A lot of the "safety" pop ups are whats going to drive you mad, but its part of the times.
The best OS in my opinion Microsoft has made including server lines.
Windows 2000 Desktop,
Windows 2000 Server,
Windows XP Pro
Windows 2003 Server

I do not want it. I have XP and Microsoft Office 2007 and that was a learning curve. I was much happier with Microsoft Office 2003. All the best...

I have Windows XP and it works fine but slow so I also installed in a partition UBUNTU which is a linux system that is always fast and always no problems. Just can't put some of the Windows or dos programs on it otherwise I'd only use it. I have to have Win. to cover some of the applications I have, but mainly I use UBUNTU.

Have you tried WINE? Many Windows Programs work under wine.

Sorry, Yes I meant wine, but smoking some UBUNTU really gets me there.

WINE = Wine Is Not a Emulator.
It converts the function calls of Windows programs into Linux ones. It does not actually emulate the Windows environment, it simply passes parameters.

Dimitri have some wine!!
WINE= Windows Compatibility Layer (so there)
Well it works with some programs but not all. I put the Point Blank program in Windows just because I didn't know if it would run in UBUNTU. I haven't taken the time to try the programs I need but I know it works with some word processors/text editors. Wine is a work in progress. Many applications still need Windows components to run and all in all it's very complicated (at least for me) to use it. The way I'm set up I can either boot Windows or UBUNTU on the one computer and actually I rarely use Windows so this is ok by me.

Suzanne,
You should have tried Wine when it first came out. Using it nowadays seems like a breeze with all the help available on the internet now.
