|
A few weeks ago, I picked up an excellent used Winchester 20 gauge Model 1200 to go with a mint Model 1300 12 gauge I found last year. The 20 gauge came with a full choke plain barrel and that would have to be opened up to modified. On Saturday, I found a used Model 1200 20 gauge ventilated rib barrel with WinChokes in another gun shop and it was cheap. The used barrel did not have a bead. On the way home I stopped at my local gunsmith shop and he replaced the missing bead for free. My old eyes appreciated the larger bead.
I got home and looked at the Model 1300 and it had a teeny weeny bead so I went back to see the gunsmith. He replaced the bead with a larger one and again for no charge. I was so impressed that I paid for both beads. The point is, you cannot beat having a decent gun shop and a competent and friendly gunsmith. All the best...

I agree. Sometimes they don't have to even be local. I found one in Idaho today based off some comments in a 4-year old post. He took care of me right away, mic'd the parts to make sure of their dimensions for me, and charged a reasonable price. I feel very fortuneate!

Gil,
I use the same gunsmith that you do. He does all my gun work. Take care...

If you want the name of my gunsmith, send a PM to me. He is a master 'smith, very friendly and reasonable. He does excellent work for a lot of people and tends to get backed up. If you can wait, he is the guy. All the best...

Gil,
If he's out near your shooting range, then I believe I know him.
