What is the difference between 9mm Luger, 9x19mm, and 9mm Parabellum? This is a question that has always puzzled me but never could bring myself to ask. Embarassed Confused

Oops I thought I was in guns and firearms.

Per Lyman's 48th, they are the same thing.

Hornady's new manual has them all the same also.

Is it like the .380 auto, 9mm Browning, and 9mm Kurz all being the same?

Yep, again from Lyman's Manual, this time 49th edition. .380 Auto = .380 ACP = 9mm Browning SHORT = 9mm Kurz

Now if you really want to get confused start looking at the .38-40 cartridge...

wtf It’s a 40 cal..........Go figure !!!

I have wondered many times how some cartridges got their name !!!

As for the Parabellum: It means “prepare for war”

And if you want to get REALLY confused look at the British cartridges! 400/.375 Holland? 500/.450 Nitro Express?
