|
I needed a new leather belt for my competition holster. I bought this one at a flee market from a guy who does custom leather work on just about anything.
When I told him what I needed it for he asked if I wanted it to double as a concealed carry belt and proceeded to show me his belt.
For an extra dollar he adds the piece of leather to the inside of the belt.
The piece he added was the piece that was cut off when cutting the belt down to my waist size.
Now how about that !!! An 100% made in the USA leather belt with carry option for under $20.00

not bad, less than $20 you say? Good stuff, I hadn't thought of it, but that would not be too difficult to make. Thanks for the pics - sweet rig! Is it comfortable?

Wiley, welcome back!!!
Yes it’s comfortable, hardly know it’s there.
I would suggest however having the gun positioned before adding the extra leather. I didn’t have mine with me and we guessed a little as to the placement.
Two things I really like about it is if I’m forced to leave the gun in a vehicle I don’t have to mess with taking a holster off and it can also be used as a cross draw.

That looks like a nice alternative to the Yaqui Slide (one of my favorites). I've seen something like that advertised in a couple gun magazines and have considered looking into one but I'll bet it is a lot more than $20!
Nice rig.

Doesn't look that hard to make yourself. All you need is a buckle, a length of saddle leather of proper width, two Chicago screws or leather rivits and a gun...The belt you see in the photo, though a bit worn over time, cost me $14.00 for the leather and a bottle of Fiebing's Leather Die. I already had a buckle.
I believe that I would make the inner piece just a bit wider to make it more comfortable against ones hip...Or stick with a quality Yaqui Slide...Gun retension may be a little iffy with that belt system...

Gun retention is not an issue with mine !!! It has a tight fit and does not move.
I however can see issues trying to make a fit-all type set-up !!!

I wish I could carry mine like that but that BFR could cause lopsided walking. That's it I have to buy something a little smaller.
