My personal war has evolved from just hogs, to include coyotes. This past Friday, they dug into my chicken house and committed chicken genocide! Sunday morning I caught three of them standing on the tank dam about 350 yards from the house. I got 2 out of the 3 (from the porch), before they could get back to the brush. Not bad for an old blind dude. Now…………. just 4 or 5 hundred more to go.

Hey, don't knock a hard working guy. I'm not retired like some people we know. I actually have two full-time jobs! I'm a productive citizen....a contributor....a pillar of the community.... a social leader.......I'm not a leach on the world.... (Damn, that sounds like an obituary column)

Two jobs? Me too. I check the bank on the last wednesday of the month for that S/S check and check the bank again on the first of the month for my military check. That's two jobs...Isn't it?
Hell... I work harder now then I did when I was really working.
Glad to see that the pigs haven't gotten you. Thought there for a while they had won...Last time we heard from you. You were about to sneak up on them...

Bushy,
I'm just teasing you. Really....I'm jealous!
I thought I was getting the best of the wild hogs, untill yesterday evening when I saw a herd of them run across the back field. There were at least 80 in that herd, mayby close to 100, and....... I didn't have my rifle. I think they are breeding faster than I can kill them, or they are moving in from the adjoining ranches.

Mike,
I'm too old to shoot a 50 cal. After the kick, I'd probably be rolling around on the ground with a dislocated shoulder. However, I will sit on the porch and drop them at 350 yards with my 270.

It would be fun to have about 10 of us guys, half looped on beer, and armed to the hilt, then have that large herd of hogs run across that field (after I've moved the cows out, of course!) Don't want anyone shooting one of those big spikes.

Deer = Forest Rats.
Pop's hate'd 'em.
Turned his cypress trees into Q-tips as far up as they could eat every damn year up in Washington state. It's amazing those poor trees ever survived to maturity.
The .280 did a magnificent job from the easy chair in the living room through an open window. Twas worth the rescreening job that follwed. Co-op in town loved it too. Fed a bunch of families.
Mom wasn't too pleased with all that noise though, nor the mandatory wearing of ear-muffs inside the house.
I thought it was cool.
Somehow she knew even if she was in town. Something about the smell of Hodgdon lingering in the drapes or some such.
She put the kibash on that stuff after the third time....

That sounds like good wholesome down home fun. nothing like a day of shootin critters. Throw some steaks on the grill and the beer on ice, make a couple bets on shots. Relax and enjoy the perfect day.
