So I bought a bottle of Saki (made sure it was Japanese and not one of the American made brands the liquor store had) and it was pretty good.

Actually I can't stand wine, but I think I can get used to replacing wine with Saki. It is about the same in its effects compared to drinking a similar amount of wine. Very Happy

So anyone else have any interesting drinks?

Dimitri

Hey 'Mitri, define "odd stuff". My mother used to make home-made wines and one time she made a potato wine that was more like a stiff brandy. I've also had some blueberry moonshine. Cheers

I think Potato wine and blueberry moonshine counts. Smile

Some 17 years ago some Japanese technicians working with us gave me a bottle of saki. One of them said "Drink little bit, or give you very bad headache!" I never have opened it. Does that stuff age well?

See that is what I've heard too, then I figured, Japanese just like most in that part of the world are not used to alcohol. They suffer from something slang termed as CAS (Chinese Alcohol Syndrome). When I was younger I thought it was a joke. Then in high school and college I saw a large majority of my Asian friends get drunk on a bottle of beer most fallowed with the 2nd bottle.

Now I know I'd need to drink alot of Saki to get drunk myself. It doesn't seem to effect me anymore then wine. And I will admit, when I drink I can drink a lot without getting too sick. Heck if the couple of spammers for Alcohol treatment knew what I could drink without getting to the point of being sick and vomiting everywhere they'd probably want to force me into their program. Very Happy

Oh, the Japanese tech said that they drank sake either warmed up or over ice. I would think that warming it would evaporate the alcohol.

TRBLSHTR,

Nothing wrong with Whiskey and Scotch, which is what I drink the most off, more then I drink beer even. I've been known to drink "too much" of it and not be sick afterwords. Over half a bottle in a evening out (without getting sick afterwords) is not uncommon. Embarassed

You have some Peddletons there, which was really smooth, almost felt like I was not drinking Whiskey. I wish I was 21 when I went, that way I could bring a bottle back without worry.

Gelan,

Yes a very small population of Chinese and other Asian people I've been drinking with. None the less they all seemed to have very low tolerances to alcohol. If my comment offended you my apologies.

Dimitri
