Some sugar to sweeten up the water after you put the purification tablets in. Those tablets sure can mess up dirty water! An emergency space blanket to keep you from freezing to death and it has some first aid uses too. A good magnifying glass for when you run out of matches and fuel tabs to start a fire and it helps read the fine print in your survival guide.
Be sure to properly size the lubed condom too. nothing like a condom that is too big and keeps slipping off....maybe you should forget the lubricated version. Very Happy

Popgun,

Thanks for the pointers, as for your lubed condom talk, lets just say I tried once to hold water in a condom like they "suggest" for people to do as its a small "container" of sorts. I just could not see it working out well, especially since condoms in school served as a dual use item, not only for what they were intended for but water ballons as well.

The condom is in that kit because I go hiking with girls often, ether planned or a cutie I meet at the camp area. Just incase the one in my wallet has problems by the time well you know.

And no I am not implying sex, never did do that myself yet, never found a special enough girl. But when out with a girl of questionable or unknown history you got more to worry about then a "accident". Wink

Dimitri

In the second case....one or two are not enough. Just buy the super size box in the sporting goods section of your local pharmacy.

Let me tell you the secret...but ya gotta keep it to ya self mate...of using a condom for carrying water 'Mitri.

First thing...put that lubricated dinger back into ya wallet to use for "other" things. Next get yourself a couple of un..dis...non-lubricated dingers and put them into your kit to be used as water carriers.

Next...you can do this one of two ways... 1. Cut the leg off a pair of trousers and sew across the cut end to form a tubular type bag... or 2. Carry a spare pair of trousers in your kit and tie the bottom in a knot to close it off.

When you need an emergency water bag, place the dinger inside the cut off leg, or the leg of your spare trousers with the bottom of the leg tied off. Now proceed to fill the dinger with water. Your water "bag" will now have the strength of the material bag in which you have put it.

Of course, if you only partially fill the dinger, then it will not/may not be strong enough to do the job.

An easy way to test this theory is to place a dinger inside your trousers leg, inflate it...blow it up...tie it off and see how much weight it will support. You should be able to sit on it, assuming it doesn't squeeze out the untied end of your trouser leg...in other words...close off both ends of the trouser leg.

Cheers, Vince
