None Ely, I don't drive and when I was in a car to go to the stores it was not my car and, I never went out of my way to drive a long distance to find one item, was always shopping for more then just that. Wink

By the way Eric, Does Mrs. Ely cook a good Biscuits and Gravy?

If so I think she should teach Hope how to cook it. Best breakfast food I ever had. Laughing

Eric,

Cost makes no difference to me, but my convictions do.

I give you credit Cary.

On the other hand, if I all of a sudden started to worry about USA products, I would have to toss most of my items, including a good percentage of my firearms.

You? Elyboy? Live in a glass house? Don't throw rocks?

I thought it was the other way around. That you live in a rock house and throw glass...

It is hard to buy just American. There are a lot of products made in other countries that are of high quality. Especially firearms. However I do try to buy only American when and where I can...

I am not going to get into global micro, and macro economics and the interplay of each country's monetary policies, or the dynamics of gross domestic versus imported product and what that balance should be.

It is as important to purchase off-shore as well as home made goods. Look at your country's GDP and then gross exports. People in other country's buy USA, Australian, and goods from all other country's, and we should buy theirs when it is sensible.

Bottom line, if we do not buy theirs, they cannot buy ours. The important thing is the level of technology your country is producing and selling on a global basis.

I live by one buying principle, buy the best you can afford. Then care for it like you cannot afford to replace it. I think you'll wind up spending less in the long run and be happier along the way. But, the I tend to be a little frugal, with the Scot blood and all.

I give Dimitri and all of the guys who go out of their way to by American or Canadian all of the credit in the world.

Like you Bushy, I try to buy American, but it's darn well impossible to do it now days.

Just last week, I purchased on ebay, a set of Cocobola Burl 1911 pistol grips.

Cocobloa is a South American wood--go figure.

Went into China Mart the other day in Prince George B.C. Canada. Went to the sporting goods section (gun). Every item on display was of the cheapest grade lowest quality that I have ever seen. Most and I mean most of the merchandise on display was not worth buying and in many cases it was of such low quality you could not tell what it was used for. Went to the ammo section and they sold only one brand, Winchester. They were out of just about everything. Wanted some 22 ammo and after I checked the price ($6.49 box of 50) I turned around and walked out of the store. Can order from Alberta, Russel Sports, better ammo for around $3.39 a box. I ordered 1000 rounds.

No kidding...Didn't realize I was saving that much by reloading. I haven't purchased any factory ammunition in many years. Except .22...

Same with me Bushy.
I have been in a reloading frenzy as of late, because of the cold weather.
Last weekend I reloaded 20 boxes of .45ACP, along with a few boxes of 44/40s, .45 Colt, and .44 Magnums.

You should start reloading Joe.

It is my second hobby after shooting.

Eric

Reloading is my "FIRST" hobby before shooting. Eric my boy...You have to get yer priorities in the right order. I shoot so I have something to reload again...So I can go shoot again...So I can reload...............................

Joe...A set of Lee dies are cheap...If you got it I mean. If you are paying $30.00 for abox of .45 ACPs. The dies cost less.
