I was offered a Steven Favourite 22 -
BRAND NEW in box for AU$300, thats about US$195
The rifle is made in year 2000.
Its a petite little rifle, tiny !
Now I already got a few 22's but I have no FALLING BLOCK actions at all in any caliber.
Thats what interest me, the action.
Is this a good price?
Should I get it?
Is the gun any good?
Anyone have one?

That seems like a pretty good price, and they are cute little rascals! Just check it over first...some came out with the scope holes untapped or even not drilled, though scope mounts were sent. Just a little production glitch that doesn't affect all of them. If you are only interested in using it with open sights (seems like that's a lost art anymore) it really doesn't matter. The few test reports I remember reading rated them as pretty accurate. Great starter rifle for youngsters too!

Well the thing is my daughters got their 22s already,
A BSA Sportsman 5 for one of them and a Winchester 320 for the other.
If I am going to buy it, this purchase got to be a "want" not a "need"...
thus is hard to defend when asking for the permission to buy from the "Neck of the family"
I am working on an excuse and I got about 3 weeks to do it.
The seller is willing to hold the gun for me till January.

Gelan, use the same sort of reasoning our wives do... "Well, it's just SO CUTE!! I had to have one..." If its good enough for a dress or shoes it should be good enough for a gun!

Pumpkinslinger;
Never...and I mean NEVER try to use their own reasoning against them...it's a sure trap!

Haha.. Pumps your wife reasons?
seriously, I may actually buy the little Stevens..
Bugger the consequences.. the wifey could get mad only for so many days..
after that I would go back to my duty as home handyman and she can always talk to me again to tell me what to fix next..
