Obama explains why he doesn't salute the U.S.flag. I sure hope this gets around before Nov.!!!

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.

'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'

OK! Lets look at some of the highlighted parts.

Follow protocol!........ This is out of respect?????
Are we going to put a man in as our 'President' who feels that he shouldn't have to follow protocol or show respect like all the rest of the Presidents and those whom ran for President before him?

Taking sides... This one is to easy. He is running to become the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !!

Now this brings up a very important question!!! Who's side is he on?
War like message... I don't know about you. But I am thankful for the ones who fought for our freedom!!! It is not a war like message. For it is and should always be an a reminder for us all of those many who died fighting.

Maybe Obama would like it better if those who fought and died so we would have freedom didn't! Maybe he would like it better if the United states was like other countries! You know...the ones that don't have freedom. The communism ones.

THEN I 'MIGHT' MIGHT SALUTE IT!! Say what?????

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this could possibly be our next president!!
He has absolutely NO pride or respect for this country and for those who died and still are dieing to make sure we stay free!!!!!

This is outrageous!!!! He doesn't deserve to live in the U.S. let alone be it's/our President!

Well....there ya go. Is this guy deserving of the post of President? I think not. I can't help but feel he has a hidden...hidden VERY deeply...agenda. What is it?????????

What's really sad is that if any one of you had his affiliations, such as Bill Aires, Faracon, the traitor preacher, etc., we couldn't get a security clearance (top secret or otherwise), as required by the President of the United States.

History will show that he was on the losing side of the next civil war.

I'm not American, I'm Canadian, I don't always agree with what the US does or how they go about it.

I do enjoy going to the US and have quite a few friends there.

But I ALWAYS respect the National Anthem.

The National Anthem was sung acapella, by a very unlikely gentleman with a very incredible voice, at the IDPA Nationals. I was extremely impressed. The first words that he said was "remove your covers!".

It was very moving.

To the singer - THANK YOU.

Sorry to triple post, but I just wanted to say that though I realize none of this will change your mind about who you're voting for, I hope it helps you understand that chain emails are notoriously for the most part false. Again, I realize that you will vote for who you want to vote for, but I hope you do so because of factual information and not political propaganda from your in box.

Welcome to the HuntingNut mangofirst. IMO it doesn't matter why he doesn't salute the flag it's the fact that he doesn't . No matter how ya look at it that's disrespectful PERIOD. He's running for President of the United States and doesn't have enough respect for the flag of the country he is trying to represent to salute it, I don't need factcheck to tell me if that's right or wrong. And in response to his not saluting the flag please see the attached pictures. The man leads the Pledge of Allegiance on the senate floor! I, myself, have witnessed hundreds of people in South Arkansas NOT saluting the flag during the National Anthem. Does that make them unpatriotic? IMHO, no. Annoying, yes. And it annoys the ever-loving hell out of me when people APPLAUD after the Anthem!

Like I said, I know I'm not changing anyone's mind here, but I would like to speak up for the "other side," and perhaps show you some things you might not have seen. I do hope you check out all the links I've posted. I also apologize for being snide with my first post.

He's for "reasonable gun laws" There isn't any such thing. Especially in his play book as he will attempt to pass a new AWB (A missnomer) and will attempt to haveall CCW's revoked...That I know for a fact...Those in Illinois are barely allowed to own rifles let alone handguns...Have you seen the latest attempt to ban "assaultrifles) and the like? Hang tough...I'll see if I can pull it up...

I'm pretty sure the same was said for Bill Clinton, and I seem to still have my guns. I do disagree with the government's definition of an automatic weapon, but on the other hand, I don't believe I need a machine gun in order to protect myself or kill a deer.

And bill clinton banned "Black rifles". One must remember. The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with protection of this country and my family. I have no problem with people (law abiding) having automatic weapons...

I don't care what Obama says during his campaign speeches, while trying to hoodwink voters in areas that believe in God, Guns, and America. All you have to do is look at the socialist democrat addenda, which is what he is part of. It is and has always been for control of all guns in the hands of private citizens. In other words, trashing the second amendment, among others.

You know....the amendment that was put in place to allow citizens to protect themselves aginst all evil, including the federal government.

Also, there's not a socialist alive that won't raise the taxes on all of the people, if they could get away with it. Revoking the Bush tax cuts, is raising taxes on the middle class.

Imagine this scenario. Nancy Pelosi delivers a huge tax and spend bill to the desk of Obama, he takes out his trusty presidential pen and vetoes it! ROFL

What a joke.
