My experience over the last few years has been: The lights do last a long time, but not what the adverts claim. The light is sufficient, if you buy the higher wattage bulbs.

~90% of the bulbs in our house have been changed to CFLs, and my wife says our electric bill has remained about the same, despite claims of economy.

With the latest revelations on safety, we are considering switching back to regular incandescent bulbs.

If you go back to the incandescent bulbs you had best buy tons of them as they are supposed to stop manufacturing!!!!!!!! Sad

Think I have found one good use for the CFL's. Put them in your work lights and when your're crawling around under the house and kick the light, you don't break the filament. Smile

That way you can tell the diff between a king snake and a diamond back, if you need to. Sad

And, they run a little cooler so you don't burn yerself on the reflector when you lay your arm on it. Smile
